Vegan mom takes on Disney..... Dec, 2011 PTR

My busy crazy weekend is done. Phew! We had gorgeous weather but my son and I ended up with heat exhaustion so he is home sick today and neither of us got any sleep last night.

I ended up sleeping with him in his bed and apparently my poor dh was up a couple of times with puppy. He was NOT happy this morning. He does not do the up at night thing well.

I am suppose to be making ADR's today but I don't think it is going to happen My dh reminded me that we can not do ANY breakfast ADR's because he needs to eat almost immediately upon waking. He is hypoglycemic and can't wait for an hour or more to eat. And to add to the drama, he is talking about wanting to go to Harry Potter World. So much going on and no time to really look at any of this right now.

Thankfully I guess, I am now not trying to get any character dining adr's so some of the pressure is off. I hope to make my adr's this week yet but it is also my last week of teaching, I have 5 interviews for new students next year lined up and my recital is on Friday.

Oh, I need a holiday.... right now!!

As Tammie said... don't worry about the ADR's too much. Honestlly, this is what I think... there is no need to get up first thing and drive yourself nuts. Should you book ADR's? Yes. I am always amazed when people walk up and expect to get in to be seated. However, I believe I have booked at under 30days and still got descent places. This week sometime should be fine.

And..as for your ds.. I hope he feels better. Never fun when the kiddos are sick. Puts a lot on mom...and well... dads just are not necessarily always the best at being helpful. Not not helpful...just At least with mine... I feel like I have a second baby I have to worry about. You should have seen what happened with my dh last week when dd was in the hospital.

Neil Patrick Harris would be so cool to see. I am jealouse. The dates he is to be the speaker.. is not one of the dates that I wanted. Who knows.. maybe I might have to switch my plan around a bit. I guess I will wait until I find out who tba is... then decide what day we are doing CP.

Just to keep the suspense going..... No ADR bookings yet. Each time I tried to sit down to do this today I have been inturrupted by stuff and more stuff and then just for fun, the kids and their stuff! Sheesh, I swear i am getting these done tomorrow!! Though I did realize that I have NO idea what TIME to book our meals for. In all the excitement of figuring out where to eat I completely neglected the TIME to eat! So now I have the afternoon and evening to figure that out.

So since I can't update the ADR's here is an update of some of the CRAZY going on around here in the past couple weeks.

I know June is a busy month for almost everyone so I am sure you can all sypathize with my plight.

First up:
Puppy Update....

Our cute baby is doing well and growing.

He has been such a sweet heart and great company for me. It was a bit trying for the first couple of weeks since I was still teaching but he handled it very well. He is 12 weeks now and weighs 4 pds He goes outdoors well but I am having only minimal success getting him to go in his designated area, about 50% of the time he uses the area so that is pretty good. He walks beautifully on the leash and the kids are able to walk him as well. He loves to cuddle but happily plays on his own too. All in all he has been a great dog so far. The only thing I wish is that he would sleep just a little longer in the morning. 5 am wake up is a LITTLE early for me!

Begining of June we had our town fair....
Started off with the Friday night. The kids went to the fair with friends and hubby and I went to a fancy schmancy dinner thing in the city. All went well except that hubby and I got back a little late and by then my dd was quite upset and worried because she had not heard from us. She has used this as an example for why she needs a cell phone!

Sat morning was the parade. My music business was in the parade for the first time. We handed out over 150 brochures and almost all my students rode along and threw candy.

My hubby even rode his yellow bike! (yellow as you can see is the color of my business)

He sure got a lot of attention riding through town. Small towns are great... we know so many people here

since the parade I have had many, many calls and emails and have been conducting interviews for new families all this week. I have almost filled all my classes for next year already!!

After the parade the kids went off with friends to do rides and see shows and eat junk food. They had a great time. My son won a stuffed animal at a game and thought it would be the perfect thing for puppy

Puppy LOVES this stuffy. He plays with it, snuggles with it and pretty much drags it everywhere. It is very cute

The following weekend my dd was in a Dragon boat competition. They did very well. Placing 5th overall.

She is the second one from the back.

And my nephew is the drummer. He fractured his wrist a week before the race so they had to switch him to drumming.

The following week was my recital. No pictures but the recital went great. I think we had close to 70 people there. The students did fantastic, i was very proud of them!


OH and can't forget.....


Got my marks back from the exam I wrote in May. I got my High Honors standing. I can now say that I have officially completed my elementary pedagogy certificate! I will get my fancy certificate in October.

One last puppy and son picture. I have to say it melts my heart to see my son and my puppy playing together. boys and dogs just go together

That's it for the other life I lead. I am now on summer holidays though it has not felt like it this week. I think I did 12 interviews this week with a few more to do tomorrow yet.

My kids go off to camp in a couple of weeks and then I will plan the 'how to tell them' surprise.... oh can't forget. We found the coolest give to add to the surprise. Apparently Kinect for the XBOX has come out with a new game. DISNEY!! You can walk around, visit characters play games.... so much fun. THough it does say Disneyland on it I will just paste over that.... DISNEYWORLD!! I think this will be quite the hit during our surprise night. I'm getting really excited thinking about this.

Oh, there is more to say yet.....

1 - dd got one of her wishes
2 - the kids once again almost figured out the surprise
3 - my mom and dad and their dramatic house selling days... including a trip to the hospital and an offer made within 20 minutes of putting up a for sale sign
4 - my dh and his motorcycle drama
5 - my amazing piano find!
6 - How I made my ds's day
7 - end of school drama and fun

and on and on it goes. I think I better post about all this later though.... no one will read all this if I put it into one post

Sounds like the parade was a great success for your business!!! Makes me miss my little hometown in Colorado and the annual community days (parade, street dance, family fun night, BBQ).

ADR's are bo-oked, ADR's are bo-oked!

Yay, one more thing I can ALMOST check off my list.

I had to tweak my plans a bit.... big surprise!

We arrive Sat night, late. I think we get in around 7 pm, if I get the flights I want. We will hang out, have a snack and hit the sack early that night I'm sure!

On Sun, our first day of going to the parks I was very very certain that we would be going to MK. BUT I realized last night that we CAN"T go to MK that day, it's the MVMCP that night so we would have to leave at 7pm. Um, no thanks!

So I switched things. I'm sad not to be going to MK on day 1. I really wanted to see the castle that day but I will see it via the monorail at least

Here is my list:

Sunday, day 1 EPCOT

can't book the dp yet for CP but I know this will be our day. Neil Patrick Harris is doing the reading and my hubby is really excited about that. I will be booking the coral reef restaurant for dinner that day.

This may be one of those restaurants that that I may have to pack some protein bars for. It does not look promising for me to get a decent meal but I will talk to the hotline and probably the chef as the time gets closer and who knows, maybe they will surprise me

Monday, day 2 MK

All of our breakfasts will be at Pop. Hubby and dd can't wait too long for breakfast so we will need to eat almost as soon as we get up.

Lunch: CS don't know exactly where yet, it will depend on where we are in MK at the time. I have a few that I know are good for me to eat at and talking the the cm today, she told me that I might even be able to make advance requests at CS places. Yay!

Dinner: 5pm The Wave

I'm looking forward to this restaurant. and getting out of MK for just a little while will be really nice too. We will head back to MK for the evening since there are no MVMCP that night.

Tuesday Day 3, DHS

Lunch: again depends on where we are but it will be CS
Dinner: 5:30pm Sci-fi

Wednesday Day 4, AK/MK combo day

Lots of food this day

Lunch: 11:30am Yak and Yeti
Dinner: 5:15 pm Kona cafe. This was the only one I could not get the time I wanted. I wanted 4:30 but they had nothing before it and closest after was 5:15pm. I'm a bit concerned about being able to get to MVMCP for 7 pm with this reservation. Wondering if we will have enough time.

Thursday Day 5, DTD

Lunch: not sure yet. We may be at Disney quest for lunch or we may go to planet Holleywood. Either way, I will be packing food for me and making a run (and probably a few) to the vegan bakery in DTD

Dinner: 5:30pm Boma

Since we can bus from DTD to Boma I figure this is a good way to fit this restaurant in. I really want to go to Boma and more importantly I really really want to see AKL. Can't afford to stay there but I will enjoy seeing it and wandering around a bit
Unfortunately I could not book this one today. For some reason there was a glitch in the computer system and it would not let her book this. I will have to call back next week hopefully.

We may head back to DTD or work our way back to Pop after this. I guess we will see how long we spend at AKL.

Friday, day 6

This is an unplanned day. We are leaving this day as a make up day, either go to a favorite kingdom again, maybe split up, not sure yet. Have not made any ADR for this day since I don't know where we will be. we will probably do CS anyways because in the ddp I will have used up all our ts credits once I book and CP dining package

Saturday Day 7

This is departure day. If I get the flights I want we won't be leaving till after dinner so again our plan is up in the air right now.

I booked tickets for 6 days in the parks so we will have a couple extra days to work with for Friday and Saturday. And who knows, we may be bushed by the time Sat rolls around and just enjoy hanging at the resort. since I don't think we will get a lot of time to see anything during the week.

That's it so far. I'm sure like everyone else, I will continue to tweak and question myself.... i wouldn't be a try obsessive planner if I didn't!

Those are some good plans... sadly, I don't think ours match up at any point. Course... there is always the tweaking and I am sure I am far from done with my plans.

I think you will have enough time to get eat at Kona at 5:15 and get to the party at 7:00. I found the service last summer at Kona to be pretty quick and you are either a monorail ride or boat ride away! You might check in a little early for your ADR and get lucky!

Oh my! i can't believe how long it has been since I have been on here!!

Something about summer months, it is hard to stay on top of things.

I crashed big time once i finished working and I feel like it has only been in the past day or so that I have even felt like getting up and trying to do anything! I haven't been sick (thank goodness) just tired and drained. That's what happens when you push so hard during the year. Makes me really glad that I decided not to do a course over the summer.

My kids are going to camp for the week next week so hubby and I are taking off for a couple of days to North Dakota. Puppy is going to grandma's - should be interesting!

Nothing new to report for PTR planning. I'm stil checking the flights but so far nothing has changed in pricing.

I saw on all ears that booking for the CP dinner package starts on July 26th. Once that one is done I'm done with my ADR's and then it will be on to planning my detailed itinerary.

While the kids are at camp I will be planning and buying stuff for my big surprise! My dh is gettting invovled now too.... it's fun to plan this together.

So far here is the tentitive plan:

kids will do a scavanger hunt. First clue will come to their emails but they will have to work together to get the answers. Don't know what all the questions will be yet but they will be unrelated to Disney, my kids are too smart, they would figure that out right away!

So we are going to have them figure out an IP address and my dh will set it up that once they go to this IP it will tell them to go to there rooms.

I am going to paper their doors with wrapping paper and big bows, once they break through that on their beds will be a new suitcases (which they desperately need!) on Top of the suitcases will be some stuffed animals and when they open the suitcase there will be clothes, planning books, trinkets and whatever else I can find. I'm thinking christmas ornaments and fun stuff like that. I'm not going to put in the dates, I want to see if they will figure out when we are going by some of the more subtle clues that we will give them.


It's going to take some work to get this done but it should be soooo much fun!

Hi, just catching up so excuse the late reponses! The sweet wie sounds yummy! How was the fair? That sounds like lots of fun! About the ADR's you could always get him something to eat from the hotel cafe (it seems as though all hotels have one) and then to still get in the character breakfast you could do a early lunch with them? My husband's like Ann's! He's not very helpful! I hope that your little guy feels better by now! LOL I hope that the puppy starts to sleep in a little for you! We are thinking of getting a puppy for Christmas when we get back from Disney! That's awesome that you got some new business for the coming year! Awesome o the exam! I have to say all of you guys are very inspiring to me to get back to school! I like those plans that you have! I like the idea of leaving a day open for whatever it is that you would like to do! Oh the reveal sounds fun! Kids are so smart these days though! Okay I am all caught up now! Have a great rest of the weekend!

Hey, not sure if you have a $1 tree near you, but they have a lot of Disney stuff that you could put on the advent like stickers, little figurines and so on! Maybe for universal get a shark thing-doesn't have to say Jaws, get a Dr. Suess book, and so on! That sounds like a fun way to tell the surprise!

you get a little mommy daddy time for that long? DH and I are going to go back upstate for time but only 3 days! Gotta love grandmas that will help out!

I found so much great Disney stuff, books that I can't get here, trinkets, shirts games, you name it, I found it! I post pictures of my findings soon.

And I got great news as soon as we got home too! My DH just informed me that his work has put together a deal with an airline and now I get a discount on any flight we book!!! To top it all off, it is with the airline that I am determined to get for our flights, it has the only direct flight to Orlando. Very excited! I think i will be booking my flights very soon now. I would still like to see the cost a little lower, but maybe with the discount it will be low enough.!!
