VDH Questions for Purchasing

Here is the dealio with 150 (however you break it up). You won’t be able to sell any of the 50’s without first buying a 50 then selling. (To maintain status if minimum still 150 for DVC-Y). Save some closing cost. 70/80..just saying 😉
I fail to see how 70/80 is beneficial any way other than saving closing costs. She has come to terms with the closing cost to split 3 ways. Many here on the boards think it well worth the fees to split even in Florida where closing costs are higher.

A better incentive could push me to 200 but not this one.
I think 200 is only worth it if you think that is how many VDH point you will eventually want/need. Buying that extra 50 points won't be cheaper than it is now. But, if you think to yourself, 150 VDH is really a pretty good amount and the money I'd spend on that extra 50 would be better put towards some cheap SSR resale (for example), don't do it.

This is pretty close to the direct 200pt VDH contract we split into 2- 100pt contracts, a couple weeks ago.
Added the transaction details of the closing docs below for reference.

Keep in mind that future changes to the Contract Administration Fee could eat into the higher resell potential of smaller contracts if Disney decides to increases it over time.

If im calculating this correctly which im probably not lol, my 200 split 3 ways would have been $848.55 more than this which doesnt make sense with my calculations ugh

I was going to make this same point. When I had originally suggested 200, it was less about the cost savings p/p between 150 and 200, and more what those 50 would cost you down the road. If VDH wasn’t restricted, it may not matter as much but once it’s sold out those 50 pts will cost significantly more - or be restricted.

But at the end of the day - we all want you to do what’s right for you 😎

The difference to add 50 points later alone is $1408 than now with incentives. Im more comfortable with that than the $11,198 extra that I have to pay down quickly now if I dont want to pay crazy interest so theres my answer too 😆

Maybe I buy them resale if I need them. I can cheer on them losing half their value to buy more or I can be happy that they retained value cuz i already own 150. Win win lolll

It's a good thought. I honestly should have given more thought to this before buying all my direct RIV points. Buying some direct points and then supplementing with resale can be a very smart strategy with restricted resorts IMO.

Yes I think so because I dont think I really know what im going to need until I start runnin' em up 🤑🤑

I share your exact sentiment. I am still another 200 points short of my long term VDH points goals. For the next one I am waiting for even better resale deals than the 1 VDH resale contract I already have so I am all for more depreciation at least before everything goes haywire in the next decade when Disneyland forward takes shape.

It’s never too late to buy more resale RIV or VDH 😅

Good lord these threads are hard to keep up with and catch up on. lol

if go up to 200. I’d do 150 & 50 split. No more. Lock in your solid 150 to get grandfathered for when that minimum increases. Then 50 to play with if later sell & buy something else.
Agreed, if you go 200.

75/75/50 could be good too.
Yes, being able to sell the 50 and still qualify for benefits, is the key!

I feel 75 is an odd number, when looking for resale contract I try to avoid odd numbers.

I would break it up as

50/70/80

this gives more flexibility in what number you want to off load when you do want to off load some points. having 75/75/50 don’t give you that flexibility.
Funny, I feel like 75 is more of an even number than 70. lol
And I always search for 75 and 80 point contracts, but 70 just seems odd.

That’s a cool look with the 150 as 70/80. Easy to visualize the three contracts in the dashboard. The same issues apply though as 75/75/50. Must keep those two adding up to 150. Still selling the 50 first.
Definitely!

I barely finished analyzing the 200 points and so far ive just eliminated 200 without MB 🤣🤣

Im only saving $1pp if I go 200 points regardless of MB or not. Not too thrilling to me. I am able to jump onto the next incentive period if theres better incentives on 200 points ( I doubt it with the price being raised but I am anxiously waiting)

She just sent me the 3 way 150 point split. I guess I can spend the rest of the night going back and forth over and over again what I want before tomorrow 🤣
What is standing out to me the most is what you told me from the very beginning, that its only $1 pp difference going from 150 to 200 points which is not exciting at all and not necessary imo. A better incentive could push me to 200 but not this one.
If you’re only saving $1/pp I’d just go with 150 points. You can always add 50 if you absolutely need it.

We been giving all these cool break downs. So what now? 75/75 100/50 or @Add-On-Itis way 70/80 (best one).
70/80 seems like an odd duck, but technically it does make any difference from 75/75.

Please don’t put 50/50/50 😂
It could actually make the most sense to go with for 150 points.

Agree, it has zero advantage.

Personally I’d go 50/50/50 or 100/50, or 75/75/50 for 200. :)

How lowwww can they go

Sorry, but my new goal is to make this the thread with the most comments and views ever.

Its been blowing up pretty nicely so we must keep it going.

Im doing 50 50 50. I still havent decided on MB
