VDH Opening

Bottom line is that we both would rather regret buying versus regretting not buying for the second time. Although it would have been a stretch at the time, we very much regret not buying pre-opening VGC when we had the opportunity.
Dang. I’ve never heard the FOMO expressed quite this way before. Have you ever regretted buying something you shouldn’t have? I‘m wondering if the the missed opportunity for VGC is way too strong to overcome. Congratulations btw, on your decision to buy!

I think it really depends on the amount of points someone is planning on buying, if its enough to get incentives then i think its a lot more important to buy sooner than later, but if only 50-100 i think waiting is the better plan, you can always add on those points (with no incentives anyway), & resale may also be a good option to add to the equation.
I'm curious, why is it more important to buy sooner if someone's considering enough points to get incentives? We're all "timing the market" in one way or another...

The initial incentives will be better than shortly thereafter. But... also just exciting. Haha. And then of course doing it by 5/16 if you want to book on points right away when that goes live.

exactly and that's the benefit for DW as she waits for us between Space, Matterhorn (when it runs) and Nemo.

If they had popcorn - that'll be even more a kicker value :D
But they DO have popcorn.. at least until they run out. I’m perfectly okay having to go grab it from a cart outside myself as long as it’s free 😅

I'm curious...which off site place has doubled??
Home2Suites

I'd have to look for the exact numbers, but we paid something like $180/night on our stay in 2021. My daughter and her boyfriend would have paid around $350/night a few months ago if they didn't have Hilton points to use. I saw similar prices when I looked it up the other day.

Of course -- for now until they run out of cute buckets and vouchers. Want to see a machine in the lounge! :D

Both Park Place Inn & Park Vue Inn are around $350/night in January for my dates. I'm not sure when/where @Bucketfoot was looking, but I'm seeing the same thing.

I searched early February 2024 to compare with the rate we got for February 2023 (though we ended up cancelling and staying at the Grand Californian) and they are roughly the same. Was it a lot cheaper before 2023??

I don't. The last thing we need is the carpet looking (and feeling) like the inside of an AMC theatre.

Definitely don’t want a machine in there either. Many DVC members are piggies. During the 2017 Moonlight Magic at Disneyland, they gave out popcorn, churros, ALL the frozen treat options, and beverages. Walking out of the park at the end of the night was disgusting. Trash and popcorn all over Main St. 😡🙄 It’s really not that hard to find a trash can… Of course we never saw those options again. 😪 And they removed hot chocolate as an option at the Epcot lounge due to the huge messes being made. 😵‍💫

Not really when it comes to regrets. Rarely do we do any sort of a high priced impulse purchase.

The closest would be my BMW that we got rid of sooner than expected due to a timing chain guide issue that was a ticking timebomb. BMW would not proactively address, even though the dealer knew my car had the issue and would eventually fail.

Which BMW? Was this an E46 M3? Except for the one that someone totaled for us, we still have all of our BMWs that we purchased new. My husband’s uncle bought one from us that we bought used. We recently bought his 80s coupe from him. One of his sons wants my convertible if we ever sell it. More cars than drivers now🤣

E84 X1 bought as a CPO. Loved the car, but was a bit pissed when I traded it in on my GT86 and found out there was an accident listed on the Carfax that wasn't noted at all when I bought the car. Impacted my trade-in value and should have disqualified it from being a CPO.

Went on my first Disney cruise and it’s crazy how much popcorn don’t make it into people’s mouths at the Walt Disney Theatre in an hour’s time. But anyway, I would be perfectly happy if they just pass out vouchers for popcorn as an ongoing thing for the lounge. We don’t get discounted popcorns at dland typically so that would be an amazing perk.

And this is why we can't have nice things...
