VDH Opening

Anyone know if they offered incentives for RIV and VGF when they initially went on sale? Hoping they'll offer incentives for VDH add-on, but not seeing anything yet and we're a week-ish away from on sale.

Do we think that most of the Preferred View Studios are the Princess and the Frog themed rooms so that they can attached to the 1 bedrooms for lock offs, leaving the the Sleeping Beauty Rooms as mainly Standard Views? Just wondering what the odds of getting the non Princess and Frog Rooms would be.

Yes, and the incentives last year for VGF were not announced until the day the sale started...they didn't even give the base price that day!!!

We most likely won't always use the fixed week either and will end up banking and borrowing for a bit while our kids are still able to come with us. Long term though when the kids have flown the coop the Duo will be perfect for just the two of us. Its also a hedge for resale as it will be more attractive to have a guaranteed week when thats the only place you can use the points at. I like first week of October to see all the fall and Halloween decorations at DL.
Oh just thought of it, if Disney Forward happens, having one full week may make sense. I am basically trying to talk myself into buying a favorite week to guarantee one of the bigger accommodations lol

What happens if you book online but when you get to the airport the lot says sold out?
The system knows how many vehicles are in the lot and how many prepaid vehicles to leave space for. Even if the sign says zero spaces, scanning the QR code provided opens the gate. Just pulling up to the gate opens it for me and it says “Welcome Don” on the screen.

Yes, the language says they can remove the restrictions in the future.
But does that mean if they do remove, they wont be able to add them back to any contract sold during the down time.?

Incentives yes, for 50 point contracts no. ;)

The specific language seems to indicate they can remove and add back in if they want.
They basically gave themselves the power to make whatever adjustments they want.

We don't park at the hotel, we fly in and shuttle over. Parking not an issue. Everyones financial situation is different..I don't presume to know yours, you shouldn't presume to know ours. Again, we're dropping cash at DLH 15-20 days a year in a 1 or 2 bedroom. We've done all the spread sheets....It'll pay for itself before the kids are driving. We've factored in maintenance, taxes, etc....we're looking at above 300 spread out over several 100 point contracts for ease of selling 15-20 years from now when we're empty nesters. We've already got 500+ at Aulani that we use for annual trips in a 2 bedroom.
I didn’t presume anything. Don’t get so defensive, we are just having a discussion. I’m just giving you the factual numbers and my opinion. We are all on the same team here so I understand the urge to defend something you are excited about (as I would be) such as a DVC property.

I looked up 1 night at DH for a 1 bedroom september 28th since its also the cheapest points on the point chart to compare (36 points). And holy cow is it expensive. $1578.33 after tax (tax is $229.33)

36 points x ($9.06 (MF) + $2.73 (tax)) = $424.44 for your annual cost in fees & taxes

36 points x $230 (buy in) = $8280 / 50 yrs ownership = $165.60

total cost per year without inflation adjustment and increase in dues = $590.04/night

So if you are staying at DH in a 1 bedroom anyway, its 1/3 the price. Great value for you. Where our perspectives of its value clash is, Im comparing it to other DVC properties whereas those who are finding the value in it are comparing it to cash stays at the Disneyland Hotel. Both are valid.

I own at the poly and when I did the calculations, im paying about $160/night for a studio. I found that extremely valuable. But I cant see myself paying $590 a night for a 1 bedroom, which you do. And that’s awesome. In the meantime, I will live vicariously through people like you and watch YouTube videos of people enjoying the DH tower.

I'm like you. I wanted savings similar to what I get at WDW, even when comparing with direct prices today. It's that comparison that has me jaded lol

But since my dates are flexible I'm just going to try to use my WDW points at VDH at 7 months every other year or so, and if that doesn't work I'm ok with cash rates when they have a discount since our visits aren't as frequent. But who knows, maybe I'll change my mind again later this year lol

Yeah if I was interested in DH I would wait and buy Fort Wilderness direct :-) and use those points to get DH at 7 months. Worst case scenario, I skip DL and book a Fort Wilderness vacation (or maybe Aulani)…And an offsite cheap accommodations at Disneyland. Mariott down the street is a pretty great value as a cash stay. Regularly on Hotwire.

Not sure Fort Wilderness and Disneyland Hotel are comparable, maybe Polynesian Tower if it ends up being Studio dominant. Fort Wilderness is like buying a contract that's exclusive home resort priority is 1 bedroom villas, but if that's what you want the Disneyland Hotel is so studio dominated that getting a 1 bedroom, 2 bedroom, or Duo will likely require ownership.

Yes, i would assume some GREAT Incentives at 200 points!!
Sadly the incentives cannot be great enough for us to buy. With higher MFs and the bed tax, even at $50/point the annual cost at VDH would be higher than the annual cost of our direct contract at VGF.

It would take a cost of $25/point for the annual cost per point at VDH match our VGF contract. I know that DL is a completely different beast than WDW. But the value of a dollar is the value of a dollar no matter where you spend it!

Not sure i follow your math, how do you add $2.87 per point to your MF/dues, etc to get that?

Do we pay the Transit Oriented Tax even if we use other direct DVC points or grandfathered resale points prior to 2019? I’m assuming yes, that it works like Aulani’s Transit Oriented Tax, but wanted to confirm.
