Making 1st trip to VB in May, anyone have any dining recomendations either at the resort or off site. Will have three small children, so kid friendly is a priority. Do they have any character breakfast or dinner? Are there any characters at the resort at all.
Also is there any other don't miss things to do in the area.

Thanks in advance

Onsite:
Shutter's can be very kid friendly.. During the summer, they generally have two character breakfasts with Goofy and Max... We attended and showed up early... Pretty much had Goofy to ourselves for a half hour or so... :goofy:

Sonya's... Upscale and somewhat pricy, but still somewhat kid friendly.. The CM's go out of their way making the kids feel welcome.. Last time, my DS (3 at the time) was acting up a bit, and they brought over a few toys to help quiet him down. :teeth:

Green Cabin Room... Eat on the balcony.. This is a must do for lunch... The menu isn't the largest, but you can't beat the hamburgers... It's the only restuarent (really a bar :drinking1 ) where you can eat with a view of the ocean.... Again.. The CM's there are wonderful... DS (3 at the time) was tired and not feeling good once when we ate there... Actually, he got sick halfway through lunch.. Needless to say, the CM rose to the occaison, and helped us clean up and brought my son out some water with a towel to help make him feel better... They boxed up our lunches right away, and later on during the trip when were ate there again, checked up to see how he was feeling...

Shutters is nice - food has dramatically improved over the year... personal fav is crusted Mahi Mahi.....

Sonya's is upscale and ok... and Green Cabin room is more of a Pub menu howvever you can order off any menu and have it served there.

Don't feel like going out and want room service... all menus from onsite rests are available for in room dining!

Offisite...
Capt Hiram's and SquidLips (both about 7 mins away) offer sea faring meals and are VERY casual. My kids LOVE these places.

Want an adult meal while the Kids are at Discovery Camp.... try Ocean Grille in Vero Beach about 10 - 12 min drive. VERY VERY Nice.

We thought that the Ocean Grill was great, a bit expensive for the ambiance and food. Only had breakfast at Shutters (excellent). Had dinner at Green Cabin, ate on the deck which was a lot of fun. The no see ums (biting Bugs) were horrible. Be sure to put on bug spray at night. We went to Carrabas (chain) which is about 20 minutes from the resort when you don't know where you are going. That was our favorite. It was my DH, DD (22), 2 DS's twins (23) and their girlfriends. We all loved VB and are going back in August. We are going to try Capt. Hirams, Sonyas and Shutters this trip.
