VB - Weather Question

We are thinking of going to Vero Beach next December, but are hesitant based on the weather. Anyone been there the second week in December? Is it warm enough to hang out at the beach?

We have been to the beach in Florida in the winter. Somethimes, late November, once or twice in January. A lot depends on what you are used to, and what the weather is like at the time. It could be in the 70's then, or in the 50's then. You really never know. The old "crapshoot".

It also depends on what you are used to. Being from PA, we love going to the beach or pool when it is 75 outside. The native Floridians look at us like we are nuts! I would suggest that you make the reservations and count on the pool being heated. If you are going just for the ocean, you may be disappointed. If you are going for the resort, take your swimsuit and hope for the best.

We haven't been in December, but we like to go to VB over MLK weekend in January (generally a colder month). While it wasn't balmy by Florida standards, we have usually had weather is the 70s; sometimes over 80, sometimes into the 60s. Notably, every day we've been there, we look at the weather channel and discover that VB is a full 10 degrees warmer than Orlando.

Well, thanks for the input. Being as how we are from New York, 70s would be okay for us in the swimming department. I realize it's a crapshoot, but thought I'd ask any way since there are so many people at this site, figured someone had to have been there around that time of year.

we are at vero right now the weather has been pretty decent. the first day it was cloudy, 58ish and pretty darn windy. since then it has pretty much been 68ish and sunny, rained a little yesterday. today is gorgeous! sunny probably mid 70's no wind... basically pack a little of everything because it can be cool (cold) or warm... maggie

ps: the pool is heated... dh says it's like 'bathwater" and the funny thing is the lifeguards out there in their "artic gear" the warm up jackets and pants.

We'll be at VB starting 01/14/2005 ... it's the last half of our vacation. The first half being VWL. I can't believe that it's so close. Wish I could dance! How about if I just jump for joy! :jumping4:
