Well, I'm home and I'm sad! It was a wonderful trip to VB and I wish I was still there! The weather was incredible, our rooms were clean and ready when we checked in. We had 2 OVIR that were connecting (2412 & 2413) The rooms were in great shape and I just love being in the main building. The resort was not too crowded when we arrived on Monday and there were even fewer people there on Tuesday & Wednesday. By Thursday night the crowd began to pick up and when we checked out on Saturday - I asked if they were full and the CM said they were totally booked for the next 3 days. Our two DS (10 &6) did quite a few activities, but our DD 13 didn't find much she was interested in. The only activity she wanted to do was cancelled because a CM called in sick! DS10 did the archery on Wednesday (with 3 other kids) and signed up again for Friday's archery session and there were 32 kids that day!!!!!!! We had lunch one day on the porch of the Green Cabin Room - that was great. We had dinner one night at Shutters - it was fine. We also ate at Capt. Hirams (pretty good), Lobster Shanty (blah) and the Ocean Grille (wonderful). The CMs were terrific (with the exception of one cranky life guard). I was surprised at the number of "seasoned" CMs in the recreation department. Not the young 20 somethings that I see at HH. We did go to MNSSHP on Tuesday night. It was our first time for that and we enjoyed it, but don't know that I would take a day off of our beach vacation to do that again! The two hour drive to WDW sure seemed to take an eternity (especially at midnight). If you've never been to VB and you need a relaxing vacation - I certainly recommend you give it a try. We haven't been in four years - and had forgotten what a wonderful trip it was! :thumbsup2

Thanks for the great report. Glad you had a great time. We love VB. We just went in August an can't wait to go back. :sunny:

Our rooms were on the 4th floor and were ocean view. We weren't in the section directly above the Green Cabin Room, but were in that first hallway beyond the 4th floor atrium. It was a very nice location. Once we stayed on down the hallway even further and the room seemed quite small (mostly due to the roof line), but this room was fairly standard in size.

I'm glad you had such a great time!

We were out of VB points to use this year, but we're set to go in March!

You are sooo lucky... A Grand Villa to boot. :sad1: And the perfect time. What else can I say. I am sooo envious. Have a wonderful time and fill us in when you get back. :thumbsup2

My family will be checking in on Thanksgiving day as well. Can not wait - 1st trip to VB. Is the 30 day ADR still in effect or has that changed to 180 days like WDW.

VB is now taking ADR's 180 days in advance. This is new. The Thanksgiving feast at VB is excellent. If you want to eat that day, you should be calling now.

Thanks thegoods. I just made ADRs and sounds like it is getting booked up fast. I got ressies for 6 at 5:40pm on Thanksgiving day :cool1: . Worked out great...I am not to picky with time but only had two time slots to choice from between 4:30 pm and 6:30pm. Also made ressies for Sat. Character breakfast.

We did the Beach Cottage in July! Just awesome! I still believe that VB is Disney's best kept secret (but word is getting out).

isyt, Did you have any problem booking the BC? I assume you booked it at 11 months day-by-day. We recently purchased a VB contract and I'm looking forward to a stay in a BC sometime in the future. I hope there won't be any issues making the reservations that I'm not already aware.

Okay I went and checked my ressies and I booked Jan 18 for Nov 22. It was booked at the 10 month mark and I had no problem. I have had a harder time time booking VB in the summer. I am really looking foward to this, we still have friends that are debating and I say whats to think about!!!

That's great news for me! We will either go Thanksgiving week or Presidents Week in a year or two. Probably Pres. Week will be more difficult of the two.

We too just got back from a week in Vero Beach (traded in). Even after a few trades into DVC, I was never tempted to buy until now. I really want a week in one of those beach cottages.

We stayed at Vero last Spring Break for the first time in a OVIR and we were hooked! :cloud9: We bought a small contract there and are booked for this April! Can't wait! Glad you had a great time :sunny:
