FYI. Got a letter from DVC that there will be closure of the beach at VB resort on or after 2/8. It is related to a government project restoring/repairing the beach at the property next door. Duration is not specified. The resort will provide a shuttle to a public beach. Construction will occur Mon-Fri. I was unclear if the beach at VB will be open on Sat/Sun.

Sorry I threw the letter out so anyone needing more details should call teh resort. But I should warn you as of today, the resort doesn't know just when this will begin and for how long. They were pleasant when we called, but had very little info.

Member Services on the other hand was very disappointing. They were rather curt on the phone and basically told us to deal with it (paraphrasing here). Given that we booked this vacation to stay at a beach resort, and enjoy the beach, we are disappointed. But i know these things happen and you have no control over them. If the castmember or her manager at Member Services had just once said "I'm so sorry for this inconvenience..." that would have gone a long way to make me feel better. This was just not the usual top-notch customer service we have experienced with Disney in the past.

For more info take a look at the VB adoration thread.

In a nut shell...

Indian River County is starting a beach restoration project that should start Feb 9th and will go no longer then May 1st (turtle nesting season). This is different then most beach restorations in that they will be trucking sand from inland instead of pumping it from the ocean floor. From the article in the local paper (TCPalm) there will be 30 trucks per hour crossing the Wabasso Bridge (which ends right next to DBVR). They are planning to work on a 6.6 mile stretch of beach and had expected it to take 90-120 days to complete. DVBR was stating that the beach will be closed for 4-6 weeks and would be open on the weekends. One of the 5(?) access points will be Wabasso Beach which is next to DBVR.
