DH is making arrangements for a golf lesson for himself and our 10 yr old DS at Sandridge. They are not taking their own clubs but both play well. Thought it would be a fun thing to do on vacation......

Has anybody played there? Any info?

I've played here and I thought it was an OK course with a very good price. With the age of your son they might like to play Aquarina, another local course. It's an 18 hole "executive" course and slightly nearer than Sandridge.. It's only a par 64 and has a relatively large number of par 3s ( the par 4s are also generally on the shorter side) but IMHO it's a better quality, more scenic than Sandridge and good practice for sharpening up your short game. Of course the lack of length might give your son a slight advantage over his dad LOL ;) .

I played in July 2001.

There are actually two courses there - The Dunes, and The Lakes. Their names pretty much describe the courses.

We played The Dunes course. It was well maintained and very pretty. Obviously a lot of sand. The Marshal kept everyone moving without feeling rushed. Fees were moderate as I recall. You could probably check their web page. There is also a driving range.

The only oddity was that rather than seeing rabbits or deer on the course as we often see here in Pennsylvania, armadillo appeared on a regular basis.

It was a good course which I would play again. I would recommed it to golfers of all abilities.

I've played/hacked there a few times and it is enjoyable. Compared to what we pay out here in Las Vegas, the public courses around the area are dirt cheap. I don't know when you are going but to be on the safeside, make sure they take some noseeum insect repellant. If the air is calm and warm, they can be around especially in the brush.
