VB: OV inn room vs. one bedroom

I'm torn.

I have an OV inn room booked. Tentatively for now. (But very excited if it works out - VB is the last DVC resort to visit - have wanted to get there for quite awhile)

Do any of the one bedrooms have an ocean view? I'm not sure of the layout of the resort.

Does anyone have a room map of VB?

Has anyone stayed in both? Thoughts besides the obvious size difference.

This is my best guess of what the VB villa buildings floor plan would look like. I may be wrong about the orientation of the dedicated units but I believe everything else should be in order. The ocean would be at the top of the page with foliage and Beach Cottages between the building and the ocean. Therefore upper floor(s?) would be best. I have never stayed in a villa so have no real experience.

Booking the OV Inn Room is the only way to guarnatee an ocean view. The 1BRs are spread throughout the outer buildings, with most of them not having an ocean view. Even some of those that face the ocean will not have an ocean view as they are on the lower floors with their views blocked by foliage and buildings. Personally, I'd stick with the OV Inn Room (requesting a room on an upper floor) if you really want that view.

Especially for a first visit, I would go with the OVIR! Go, enjoy, take a look at the layout of the resort, and then decide if you need that view right from the villa or if you're happy walking the little bit to see the ocean the next time! We like the resort so much that the villa's view isn't as important as just being there. However, when we have family with us, we will always try to go for a BC. We had our first visit in one in June, and there is nothing like it!!!

Thanks, Lisa. You're the best. We had our children in a dedicated 2 bdrm this June and your layout concurs with our experience.

I would say in a 1 bdrm third floor you are likely to have at least a side view of the ocean. Building 12 & 15 have the cleanest views and bldg 14 is pretty surrounded by vegetation.

I would concur with the others. Stick with your OVIR and get your bearings while there. We are torn also and have been alternating from OVIR to 1-bdrm each visit. I think though we are now ready to stick with the 1 bdrm for future visits. We like to cook our own meals and having in room laundry.

Get the ocean view room it's great. I am getting one for Nov.

We've always stayed in OVIR's and have enjoyed them. We even have been getting two connecting OVIRs instead of a 1 or 2 BR because we like them so much. We don't do that much cooking while on vacation, so the microwave & other things in the room are all we really need. Someday, we'll do a 2BR, but I bet we go back to OVIRs the next time!

Does anyone know the room breakdown for the resort.? Ie. # of one bedrooms, studios, two. It looks like it's a more even breakdown for one and twos than HHI.

I guess I could count from your maps on the one and two. Far too lazy.

Okay so 12 one bedrooms on one level in total? Upper floors same layout?

I believe the floors are all the same (again I haven't stayed in the villas).

There are a maximum of 4 possible one bedroom villas per floor,
3 floors per building,
3 buildings.
Total of 36 max. one bedroom units in the resort.

The same could be said for studios.

There are an additional 18 2 bedroom lock-offs at the resort (2 per floor).

Remember the 1-b/r villas are not in the main building at all but are located in the outer buildings, and all are pretty far back from everything. Even in an upper floor that faced toward the ocean, you'd be lucky to see anything, and at most it would be water in the distance. You would not be able to see the beach itself.

If you stay in the inn, the higher up you go the 'better' the view, IMHO.
