I need some advice. My parents are DVC members and live in Florida. We live in NY and have a wedding in Ft Lauderdale Sat 5/23.

We are thinking of flying into Orlando Thursday or Friday and meeting them at either VB or OKW. Then on Saturday am my DH and I will drive to Ft Lauderdale to attend the wedding while my parents stay behind with my 2 boys. DH and I will spend the night and return Sunday as early as possible.

Any opinions or advice? Is there enough at VB for my kids and parents to do? They would not spend all day in the pool/beach with them. DH and I would be happy with that scenario, but I want my parents to enjoy their day or 2 with them also.

There are activities at VB, like perhaps a campfire or movie that night. There's also a program for the kids that you can sign up and pay for. What would they be doing at OKW? Would they take the kids to a park?

DGM here, and me and DH could find plenty around VB to help us amuse the kids for one night, but we do like the beach and pool. Our DGC 3,4, 5 loved just walking around the grounds and counting all of the bunnies and lizards.

We were at VB for 3 nights and never even got to play Mini-golf!

VB has mini golf? My DS's love the pool/beach but they may be too much for my parents for 1-2 days if beach/pool only.

I think my parents are leaning towards OKW, and they are doing us a favor afterall. But I'd love to see VB and have a more relaxing vacation.

Our plan if we do OKW may be like this -arrive late Thursday, Do MK with everybody Friday, Saturday we leave and my parents take kids to a park, Sunday we come back midday and this can be a pool & mini golf or something day, same for Monday. So we won't be in the parks alot but I guess it's nice to have as an option.

Hi Donna,

I think VB would be good choice for everyone. With a 3 & 5 year-old walking distances may come into play. VB has eveything... the beach, the pool, mini-golf, the rooms, all very close (1 min walk). So if the need to get back to the room quickly comes up it is right there. And if boredom sets in on one thing you can go to something else and it's right there. Plus they have structured activities throughout the day run by CMs that your 5/6 y.o. can have fun with. I am not sure about your 3/4 y.o.

Note: I have not yet been to OKW (to stay) so I am Ignorant as to what they can provide. Hopefully someone else will provide some helpful info for OKW.

It would seem to be a longer drive from Orlando to Ft Laurderdale than Vero Beach to Ft Lauderdale. That drive time definitely cuts into your plans as well as your energy level.
