I think I may finally have DH convinced to try a DVC resort at one of these in 2007. I am looking for candid opinions on the following questions:

1. Which is more convenient to fly into? We are flying from Salt Lake City and I know for VB we fly into MCO and drive, and for HHI we would fly into Savannah and drive. Which is easier? My other consideration is it seems a lot cheaper to fly into MCO for us...is Savannah a small airport?

2. Which has better activities for a 4 year old? Our baby will be 1 so that is not a consideration.

3. Which is more relaxing? I am concerned about having to get to the beach at HHI vs. walking down to it at VB.

4. How many days would you recommend for a first trip?

5. When is a good time of year to go to both when the water is warm in the ocean but it isn't crowded? I was thinking Sept for VB but I'm not sure for HHI?

We have never flown into either so I can't respond to question one.
Better activities for a 4 year old? Well there just seems way more to do at Hilton Head. HHI has bikes you can rent, mini-golf, Big Murgies Den, B'Lou, and lots more. We have been to both resorts with small children and had great fun. Personally I think that while both resorts are great the area surrounding HHI has more to offer than Vero. I have never been to HHI in September but it seems that like Vero the weather would still be warm as well as the water. Although the beach is about a mile away at HHI it makes for fun variation. And don't forget all those great fiddler crabs and dolphins at HHI.
