VB- inn or studio + restaurant rec's

So excited- we're taking a last minute trip to Vero- DH only needed a few more miles for premier status so off we go! Sorry- the search wouldn't work so I couldn't get any old posts about dining in Vero. We haven't been there for 20 years. Is the Ocean Grill good? There used to be a place called the Red Tail Hawk many miles south on the beach- Don't know if its still a restaurant or is any good. Also which is better OV inn or studio? I booked an Inn room cause I thought it would be more convenient, but the studio layout in the member guide looks a little bigger. Appreciate any recommendations and info- I know we're going to love it there! TIA, Karen

are the Black Pearl,Hurricane Harbor,Mr Manatees,Capt Hirams
Ocean Grill is still there.There are no offsite dining spots within walking distance(except for a small pizza joint which has really went down hill since it changed ownership)
You will see more locals at Hurricane Harbor.(best conch chowder around)Mr Manatees and the Black Pearl. I work in the lab at the Fisher treasure museum in Sebastian and there is a new Bistro that opened up next to it that some of the locals are raving about. Haven't ate there yet but may try it next week.Can't pass up the Conch Chowder w a splash of Sherry at Hurricane Harbor

Mike hit on all the good ones, with one exception.

When we were at VB last month, we "finally" tried "The Patio," which was highly recommended on this board.

It was really good, and an incredible bargain!

Their early bird special included salad, bread, entree, glass of house wine, and dessert. We were stuffed and happy!!

The Inn Rooms are in the main building. Parking garage underneath. Views are best on the 3rd and 4th floor. You need an Ocean View Room. I was told by a Disney Guide that the Inn Rooms aare slightly larger than the studios. We liked the Black Pearl Restaurant on the canal.

Shutters restaurant was average.

The Inn rooms will have better views as a rule and be more convenient. The Inn rooms have 2 queens while the studios have a queen and pull out full. The size is basically the same with different shapes. Personally I'd go with the Inn room vs the studio.

As for restaurants, I'd add Jack Baker's Lobster Shanty. Many restaurants have early bird specials which can be a great deal. Family went to Cpt. Hirams and were very disappointed. Ocean Grill gets high marks but is fairly expensive and not a kids place from what I can tell. The on site options are very good also. Last time I was there there were 2 books of menues in the concierge area. That is a good way to check what you might want to try. Many of the places in the book give Disney guests a discount. This may be in the form of a free desert, free drink or 10% off so be sure to ask and take your key with you. We did the Lobster shanty for the early bird which included a basic desert. We then got the free desert in addition which they boxed for us (cheese cake and peanut butter pie I believe).

Definitely go for the Inn Room with the Ocean View on a high floor. I have stayed in both Inn Room and Studio and by far the Inn Room has much more room and I will request it every time. They did not have upper kitchen cabinets, however.
