Thinking of going to VB for NYE and into early Jan (we are starting at WDW and then need to make our way down to Miami for a 7 night W Caribbean cruise :goodvibes )

Has anyone been at VB for NYE? Is there anything 'special' going on at the resort for that evening?

(I know the weather can be a mixed bag that time of year.)

Does anyone know where I can find average ocean temperature information?

Does anyone have feedback on whether the pool was heated to a decent temperature (for us that would be 79+)?

has anyone been that time of year and if so would you please share your experience and views?

Cheers

I want this info too since I have my reservations at VB for Dec. 30-Jan 4. Does the resort do anything special for NYE?

It looks like a high of 74 (if I remembered that from one second to the next!)

Go to weather.com, type in vero beach, there should be a link to averages and records. The first graph will have the monthly averages but you can change that to the daily averages with a pull down menu in the corner.

Thanks for that info :goodvibes - any idea where I might find the same for ocean temperatures?

Cheers

I was looking for ocean temp a few weeks back and couldn't find any numbers. If you find it let me know.

I found info I posted on here within the last few weeks and I'll be darned if I can find it again. As I recall, even in January water temps were warmer than most of NE in the summer. The gulf stream keeps the water warm off of Vero -- the start of the tropics. Problem is air temp -- pool or ocean if you come out into 40 degree weather it's gonna be nippy.

Update -- Found the link Stuart is just below Vero Beach so that's the temp to look at -- 70 in Dec. 67 in Jan.

For comparison, Newport RI in July is 68

We were in Vero for NY's Eve 1999. As far as I can remember, there were no fireworks at the resort that year, but I do seem to remember seeing some being displayed from somewhere down the beach a bit.
