Once upon a time I would have agreed slim to none, but no more.
Three years ago we had a trip planned to WDW and I really, REALLY wanted to start off with about 3 days at Vero. Tried to book either a 1 OR 2 bedroom at 7 month window. DH, self and 2 teenage boys, either size room would have worked and I was willing to pay the price. It was either Memorial Day weekend or very close to it. No dice. Went on waitlist. Constantly called to double-check waitlist. Started calling daily at about 3 week window. No dice. Get this - one week out from the trip I call to see if anything has come open and MS says "I'm sorry nothing in that size, but ONE OF THE BEACH COTTAGES IS AVAILABLE for that time period".
Nope, we didn't do it. I just couldn't bring myself to spring for 3 bedrooms for the 4 of us. But it just goes to show, yopu never know what can happen!
Don't listen to the naysayers that say there is no chance. Everyone told me the same thing. I gave it a shot and guess what I got a BC for seven days at the 7 month window. I did not call day by day either. Our stay is September 30th - Oct. 7th. May might be a little tougher but it certainly isn't peak season. I'd call day by day. If you are flexible, have the CM look ahead and see if other dates in May could work. Good luck and I hope it works out for you.
OH MIKESMOM you give me hope. We check in to Vero Beach on the 10th of July and I am so hoping for some pixie dust for a beach cottage. We currently have 3 rooms and that's a total of only 4 BEDS. Sofa sleepers don't count.
I'd say early May is probably easier to get than late May (considering many of the schools in the south are done before Memorial Day). Worth a shot, definitely.
