I'm not from MD, but having been to OC a bunch of times, VB is much more laid back, less crowded/busy and not very built up.
Thanks! Thats just what I wanted to hear!!

Hi Rob! Love all your info on Vero. Just sent closing papers in, so hope to ressie for next year, probably in August. Have you ever heard of anyone packing beach chairs/umbrella and checking them in as baggage on the plane?![]()
Can't help with swap info but just looked at the swap list and it appears we'll be there at the same time.I sent Starbox a PM a couple weeks ago, and she hasn't responded. I'm hoping someone can help me here! I'm part of the Beach Chair swap, but I have NO idea of how it works. When I get there, how do I get the chairs and umbrella? Who do I ask, what specifically do I ask for? At the end of my trip, what do I do with them?
TIA!
Anne
Hi, I'm not Rob, but (pre-chair swap) DH and I have checked our beach chairs as baggage. Never tried it with an umbrella. On one occasion, they just wrapped the tags for the destination airport right on each chair. On another one, I think they actually boxed our chairs up and then tagged them. The only thing is that they will tell you they are not responsible for damage to the chairs, and each one will count towards your luggage allowance. So when we did check chairs, we were limited to one bag apiece.
One thing that was handy is that the beach chairs we have are backpack style with the pouch in the back, so whatever didn't fit in our luggage (and wouldn't have been ruinous if lost or stolen) we just stuffed into the pouch of the chairs.
That said, the chair swap is WAY more convenient. You don't have to drag your chairs to/from the airport, worry about them being lost or damaged by the airline, etc. One less hassle, basically.

As one who has frequented OC and Rehoboth (all my young life) I can say that the waves can be equally formiddable, but the color of the water is sooo... specially blue... on the Florida east coast... not to mention the very excellent waves that are or seem to be regularly big...
I will be visiting Vero Beach October 13 to 20 and would like to take part in the chair swap. Please let me know how I can get involved in this?
Thanks.![]()
Starbox is the chair swap organizer, but I haven't seen her on the boards for maybe a month. You might try sending her a PM. She probably gets email notices of PMs in her mailbox.
If there is cash in the box(es) and/or we have more late additions, may I suggest that the last person provide a fruit arrangement or cookie platter or something similar for the CMs that have made this so successful? Of course, an additional tip is always nice, but I believe only certain CMs are permitted to accept them.
I tried sending a PM to Starbox but it wouldn't go thruHopefully she will see my post. Looking forward to Vero.
Thanks
I think this is because you don't have enough posts yet to send PMs. There are certain things you can't do until you reach a certain number of posts.
