VAT Increase in Jan 11

As most of us are aware, VAT will increase from 17.5% to 20% as of 4th January 2011.

My question is how is this going to effect booking holidays? I know flights are exempt of VAT so that's not an issue, but what about hotel bookings?

We are still to book our onsite Disney accommodation for next year and will most probably be going through Complete Orlando (part of Attraction Tickets Direct, a company based in London). Will the prices of accommodation go up in January? And what about attraction tickets?

Also we still need to book our hotel at Gatwick for the night before.

Any answers would be much appreciated, an increase of 2.5% may not seem a lot but when it comes to spending hundreds it all counts! :surfweb:

Many Thanks! :thumbsup2

I share your concern. Though I have my accommodation booked for 2011, I haven't been able to book flights as yet. Not looking forward to the extra 2.5% on top (and I'm sure the airlines can find an excuse to add a little more too)

No VAT on flights as they are exempt

No VAT on accommodation in Orlando as it is outside the UK!

There will be a VAT increase on your Gatwick hotel however that will already be built into the price as the date of supply will be after the increase.
