Vascectomy question (may be TMI for some people)

First time I was in a room with two women and no pants and didn't enjoy myself! :rotfl2:

It's not that big a deal.

I never knew fear until after the operation I was sitting on the couch with my bag of frozen peas. My son ran to jump on me, my wife caught him mid-air. Whew, that was a close one!

My doctor said it is easier and safer for a guy to go through this than having a woman get her tubes tied.

Piece of tube!............. errrrr, uh, cake.

A little post op swelling and discomfort, but no big deal. Mine was done in the dr's. office. I remember he was a HUUUUUUUUGE University of Michigan booster, so we chatted about Wolverine football while he snipped away.

I cried more then DH when he had his done. I was not ready to give up on having more kids, even after having 6 miscarriages and one very bad tubal that I almost died from. We have 1 son, but I still wanted to try. But when my Dr. told me that the risk was too great he told my DH that it was his time to step up to the plate and take care of things. So off to the Dr. he went. He was sore for about a day, but frozen peas took care of that. It really was a non event for him. And just to let men know, it only increases your sex drive! At least it did for us. We no longer had to worry about getting preg. so we felt more relaxed and felt free to enjoy ourselves.

And I will second the advice about the frozen peas! Oh, and a milkshake helped take care of things too!

Had mine done WATCHED the whole thing no meds just a local .
Did make the nurse do the shaving though I was a scardie to do it myself.
Dw and I agreed that once DD was 1 yr. no complacations It would be 1 and done

Dh had his done in September. No meds before hand. One incision. Done by our family doctor who was one of 2 in the practice who did V's. DH was told to wear 2 pair of jockey underwear for the first day or two for support, which he did. He admitted later it wasn't as bad as he thought it was going to be. We made this decision because it is easier on a man than to have a woman have a tubal. Too many more complications can happen, more recovery time, higher cost with tubals.

Yes to all of the above. We made a deal. I would get it done, but it would be the Wed before The Masters. Then I watched The Masters from Thurs-Sun in peace, with no nagging allowed. Now he could substitute the opening weekend of the NCAA tourny (March Madness) or sporting event of his choice.

MY DH had it done this past February. Unfortunately now I feel terrible because about 6 months after he had it done he started complaining about pain at different times. Well , it got really bad about 3 weeks ago and he went back to the urologist- it turns out there is scar tissue and was told that he will have pain permanently from now on. It doesn't happen often, but t do anything about would be no guarantees- reversal and then trying again. I feel really bad about it for him.

Had mine done over 10 years ago. A little anesthetic and snip snip. I'll remember the doctor's words for a long time. Ice - great with scotch and great on you ****s. You get the idea. Frozen peas sounds about right.

So what'd you all do with the peas and corn?

Get a bag of frozen peas to use afterwards to ice the area.

Does it have to be peas? What if he prefers corn??? ;) :rotfl2:

Hubby has his done this past Spring. After I fond out we were expecting #4 I called and made the appointment and than told him :rotfl2:

It was a piece of cake. It was done in the drs. office. We were in and out in less than an hour. He was actually out on his motorcycle the day after.

Insurance covered it 100%.

I think they gave my DH a valium when we got there. When they took him in the office (I got to watch :teeth: ), they numbed him. The doctor did the procedure: snip, snip and then I think he cauterized the ends. Sewed him back up. No lie, the whole thing was done in just under 10 minutes. He walked out of there, walked home, and was mildly sore for a few days. He did play some basketball in the driveway (the next day). He wasn't supposed to but did it anyway. He was back to work on Monday.

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: when I read this I saw "numbed him" as "numbered him" and I was waiting to see the list of numbers and what part they match too.

Got to quit trying to eat, watch tv and DIS at the same time. :rolleyes1
