Vanity Plates - Sometimes I wonder why someone would pay extra

I saw one at the grocery store the other day. It said "BMW". It was on a Porsche.

I would have to guess someone's initials. Someone I worked with in the past got married and ended up with those initals. Our boss said she "had" to use them!

Yeah, I sometimes see some plates and think...why bother? I guess they had to have something to personalize it.

I don't get it either.

I have a plate that says Y-ORE on it. It was the closest I could come to the spelling. I got them because they are cause plates- they say "prevent child abuse" on them and the proceeds go to Children's Trust Fund. I've had them since I first got my car at 16.

I don't ahve vanity plates now because I am cheap, but years ago I had the most hideous rusted ripped vinyl upolstery Nova. It was HUGE, about 13 years old and pea-green. My plate said "p" and that was all.

Recently I saw a hot little sport car with the license plate, 'MYGILT". I was roaring with laughter, no one else got my amusement.

GILT is a virgin pig!!!! Commonly used in the ag/veterinary world.

Made my day!!!

I don't know if I'd be announcing THAT to the world at large!

They were using the V in the plate to say Viagra (the little blue pill), not that they graduated from UVA.

One of my favorite things is reading plates. I could not imagine not having one.

I used to have Quents Mom however, changed it when our adoption was approved. I now have this hanging on the wall in our basement.

I had to laugh this morning when I was waiting at a light to turn into the parking lot at work and saw a little BMW sports car with the plate...SEXZ-1. LOL! (I'm sure that will set off the filters here.) If I were married to someone with that license plate, I'd be mortified every time I got out of the car.

My brother tried to get PIMPT on his and it was rejected for vulgarity, but that second V one you're talking about...they let someone get?!

Also, I know a woman who has MULTI OS on her plates!

I like reading others' vanity plates, but I would never get them myself. I want to be as anonymous as possible on the road! There are lots of crazies out there.

I spend my money on books AND a personalized plate. Mine is PYRASEA. All variations of ARRR were taken and pretty much every way of spelling Pirate. Frankly, piracy makes more sense for me, anyway. It's for my love of maritime history, which all started with piracy. I enjoy looking in my rear view mirror and watching people try to figure it out (it's not difficult, folks), along with my plate frame: "Strike yer colors and heave-to, ye lubber"

Ours is our last name plus the #5 (we wanted 86~ the year that we were married but it wouldn't fit so we chose 5 since there are 5 in our family) We only got it because at the time, there was no extra charge for vanity plates as long as you had a number. They changed that a few years ago and now there's an extra charge. We've kept the plates and pay the extra fee each year because if we want to switch, we'd have to pay for new plates anyways and that's about $85.00

I've also seen one quite often that says THKSDAD.
