Vancouver transportation to airport

Just want to give people some insight. Got off Wonder today - May 13th. Left ship at 8:35 AM. Went to pick up luggage, clear customs and walk 5 minutes to Canada Line train station entrance. Purchased tickets to airport at $3.15 CDN per person - yes this is not a typo.

Took train to airport. Checked in, dropped off bags, cleared security and US Customs and into gate area by 10:20 AM this morning.

Hope this helps others sailing on Wonder. Best way to travel and cheap too!
Yep. I’m a local (I can see the port from my office window). The Canada line was specifically built as an efficient way to get people from the airport to downtown in preparation for the 2010 Olympics. We are absolutely spoiled by the ease of getting between the airport and the port).

Also, you don’t have to get a ticket at the kiosk, you can use a tap enabled card at the turnstiles.

Hope you enjoyed our city!

We are going on the repositioning cruise of the Wonder in September. Teach me how to get from YVR to a downtown hotel, Marriott Pinnacle Hotel to be exact. We will have 2 adults with each of us having a large rolling bag, a rolling carry-on and a backpack. Tell me what to do from step one to getting to the hotel. The more details, the better. Thanks in advance!

I’d take the Canada Line to get to downtown. Upon leaving Customs, go outside and take the escalator to the third level. You can then use a credit card to pass through the gate. I’m not entirely sure if you all can use the same credit card for each person (we used our Costco CC with different numbers). Get on the train and enjoy the scenery, getting off at the last stop. Swipe your CC at the exit gate and leave the station. Now from the station it is walkable to the hotel, around 7-8 blocks. As you leave the station, turn right, walk to the light, turn left, walk up one block, turn right and walk until you get to the hotel. Next time, we’ll be getting an Uber to the hotel for that distance (booked the hotel across the street from the Marriott).

I also recommend getting an Uber to get to the port (walkable distance). The main reason is that they drop you off at a luggage drop off point and you just take an elevator up one floor and you’ll be near the security checkpoint.

The train was great for us (2 adults, 1 teen, carry-on bags only). Easy, cheap, fast. Should be everyone's default to and from the port area if no reason not to.
