We are fairly new to DCL. I was not aware until now that DCL did a cruise to Hawaii (and back) September 2015. I was hoping to book one for next year, but it's not offered at all.
Does anyone know if they do Hawaii every 2 years? Or is there really no rhyme or reason to it.
When will DCL announce summer/fall 2017?
For those that went on the Hawaii cruise, was the cost super high even for DCL? You know like the NYC cruises, I think they are highly overpriced for what they are.
Just trying to gather some info in advance, thank you!

2015 sold really badly. So wouldn't count on it coming up again. The round trip ones they had did much better. I was on the first DCL one way Hawaii cruise and I will book it in a heartbeat when or if it comes out. A round trip is not for me but it seems more people like that. The cost was really good

They did a round trip Hawaii? That's cool. I'm not sure if we would like that better as I was thinking to stay a few days in Hawaii after the cruise, but cool option nevertheless.

Yes, the first cruise DCL did to Hawaii (April 2012) sold very well. They added another trip in Oct and there were many "defections" from April to October. Both were 14 night roundtrip cruises from San Pedro.
It will be interesting to see what / if anything in terms of Hawaii will be offered 2nd half 2017.

I've done both the R/T 14 night Hawaii cruise in Fall 2012 and just did the 10 night one-way HNL to Vancouver, BC. I thought they were both amazing but for those that want more than just a tiny, tiny "taste" of Hawaii, I think the one-way cruises make a lot more sense because one can either fly in early for a nice stay pre-cruise, or vice-versa if it is the outbound cruise.

If and when DCL goes back to Hawaii, I don't care if it's one way or R/T, I plan on being on that ship one way or another! :dogdance:

I would love to do it again. I dont know what the initial price was on it, but it didnt sell. We booked with a really nice discount. Maybe they priced it to high to sell. I do hope they do it again.

Nope the price was really reasonable I booked it on day one but the prices remain reasonable. I'm sure someone will come on here and say I booked a level t or whatever and the price was outrageous.

Everyones perception of unreasonable is different. I probably would have thought it was too high. I keep looking at the Iceland Norway cruise in June. There are lots of inside rooms left so keeping fingers crossed they dont sell them.

So you booked Hawaii with an IGT/OGT or VGT rate? That's cool.
We've done that a couple times (last minute rates) and the savings tend to be huge. Much better than opening date prices imo.
However I don't know that I would risk it with a Hawaiian cruise.. I feel like I would like to plan for that further in advance. What if the next one sells? ;)
Who knows if there will be a next one though :(

No GT rates were offered. I booked with an interline rate. The ship was full of Disney employees, travel agents etc. This cruise really did not sell. What was weird is that the discounts came out 5 months before the cruise. I'll probably will never get a deal like that again. Fall cruise dont sell as well, and repo cruises dont tend to sell very well either. Im sure it was the time of year, and the fact that airfare to Vancouver and Hawaii is high. Add Galveston, and San Juan to the list of cruises that will have great discounts.

Airfare wasnt high I got philly to Vancouver and Hawaii to philly for 565 a person.

For a family of four that might be considered high compared to flying from the east coast to Orlando for a cruise.

I was briefly booked on DCL's Honolulu to Vancouver cruise in September. However, it was too close to my May and October cruises, so I cancelled it. At one time the Hawaiian ports showed up on the September 2013 (I think) port calendars, but nothing ever came of it.

I recently booked the May 2017 Radiance of the Seas cruise from Honolulu to Vancouver. I've booked and cancelled that cruise several times, but I think this one may be a keeper. The repo cruises have ranged from 9-13 nights, and this one is 12 nights. The Hawaii portion is similar in itinerary to that of NCL's Pride of America, plus 5 additional nights at sea.

I've been on this board for 12 years, Disney Repo cruises used to sell out quicker than regular cruises, wonder what changed? Other cruise lines almost have had to give away repo cruises. My mom did one on Celebrity where they were repoing a ship from Hawaii to Alaska, I think the 4 additional days cost her like $100. As she put it, she could hardly eat for $25 a day at home, let alone in a restaurant.

Disney has never had a Hawaii repo cruise.

How did they get the ship to and from Hawaii then?
The Vancouver to Hawaii and Hawaii to Vancouver cruises were just "regular" cruises. A repo cruise is a one time cruise to move the ship from one home port to another. Like the Wonder re-positioning from Port Canaveral to Vancouver for a series of cruises from that port.

Maybe I should have said one way cruise. One way or repo all the same to me because it requires starting in one port and ending in another.
