Interesting day in our area. Both DD's heard it; DGD was taking her Saturday afternoon nap in her upstairs bedroom, the "BOOM" woke her and she felt the house shake. Hard of hearing Pappy and Mimi heard nothing but, in our defense, we were in the house showering and cleaning up for evening church service. So far, one report of a fragment falling through a house roof in the Katy area, bouncing off the floor and damaging it in 2 areas of the upstairs bedroom. NASA confirmed the meteorite sighting at 4:40 this afternoon...

Saturday (March 21)

Houston / Katy / Brenham

Houston Event (Saturday ~4:40 PM)
• NASA confirmed it was a meteor/fireball
• Traveled roughly 35,000 mph
• Entered around 49 miles up
• Broke apart around ~29 miles altitude (Cypress area)
• Created a sonic boom
• Energy roughly ~26 tons of TNT
• Bright object seen
• Loud boom heard across wide area
• Homes reportedly shook

FACT: Boom occurred

FACT: Emergency response occurred

Sorting through old pictures yesterday I came across this lovely creature (Praying Mantis) about 5 inches long on our office window at work. He scared one of our employees so much she insisted that I walk with her into the building.

NICE...THANKS...I'll pass them, on to Allie! She loves exploring churches and "rocky" beaches especially. Our friend, who now lives in Finland, has family in Iceland and she visits every couple of months. She's sending her lots of photos too and suggestions. Should be a very special adventure for her.
