I stayed at the Pan Pacific before and after our cruise last year. The room was nice but I feel it's a bit dated. The elevators were old too. While we were there, one of the elevators was down for several hours and there was a convention going on, so it took a while to wait for an elevator. I liked staying at the Pan Pacific before the cruise for its convenience and how we could see the Wonder approaching to terminal early in the morning. I had an issue during our after cruise stay though. We were assigned a room with the room key and everything. When we entered that room, there was another guest already in there, taking a shower with all his belongings on the bed and on the floor. We were shocked and left the room immediately. When we came back down to the front desk, they just casually gave us a new room and key, without any apology. When we asked the staff, how could that happen and how can we be sure that they would not give out our room key to another guest, the staff called her manager to deal with us. I didn't raise my voice at all during the whole conversation. The attitude of the manager was even more disappointing. He said this kind of thing has happened more often than people thought, so there is nothing he can do to guarantee that the front desk would not accidentally send someone up to my room. I was surprised and thought I heard wrong so I asked him to say that again. He then added that it happens anywhere even with a 5-star hotel like Four Seasons or Ritz Carlton. And the manager did not even say sorry for what happened. He just said he understand why we were upset but he could not guarantee that it would not happen to us during our stay as it's a normal occurrence in hotel business. At that point, my children were so tired that I saw no point of arguing with him anymore. I know he probably couldn't do much about it as he could not be 100% sure that his staff would not make the mistake again. But still, his attitude and how he dealt with the situation just leave a bad impression. We didn't even expect to get perk or anything. Probably just saying he would look into this or would train his staffs to be more careful would be good enough. So I'll definitely not going to stay at the Pan Pacific again for our next Alaska cruise.
