Vancouver Hotels - What would you recommend?

I've stayed at both the Fairmont Waterfront and the Pan Pacific. I'd stay at either again but if the prices are comparable, I'd pick the Pan Pacific. Pan Pacific is in a great location, has a great design, and you can't beat it for convenience. Both it and the Fairmont Waterfront connect underground to a foodcourt and shopping area that you can pick up small ideas you might need. They both have pools with stunning views. The Pan Pacific I felt had the better fitness facilities- even if they were a bit challenging to find since they are in the garage by the port.

The real difference for me was the service. I felt the Pan Pacific had better service by the staff. Top of the list is as others have mentioned your bag transfer. Fairmont has this, but the last time I checked they charge to move your bags. Pan Pacific just picks them up from your room when you are ready, and they arrived in our stateroom a few hours later. Amazing way to start a trip. It is nesscary for most people? Probably not. It is a great luxury to have? Yes!! Also when stuff was confusing, or there was an issue or we needed assistance, I felt Pan Pacific did a better job not only resolving the problems, but anticipating those problems and resolving them before we even had an issue.
During our last cruise I heard a lot of negative stories from people who had issues on check out day from the Fairmont Waterfront before boarding. We had none of these issues at the Pan Pacific.

Again I would happily win a free stay at either, but if I'm paying and the price different isn't too much, Pan Pacific wins for me. For me it can't be beat in location, ease, and service. Plus the rooms were pretty great!

Thanks for the detailed comparison!

My family and I are also on the 12-19th June sailing to Alaska. I looked at many hotels trying to find a good price then someone posted about Black Friday deals at Pan Pacific. I had ruled them out as I had cheaper options but the deal was better than my other options so we are now staying at Pan Pacific from 10-12th. Everything I read about it is very positive and you really can't beat the convenience.

I can’t wait! That’s great that you got that deal. We fortunately have loyalty rewards we can use on our hotel, so cost is not the biggest factor in our decision for this part of the trip.

We are also on the same cruise. We are currently booked at the Fairmont Hotel (not the waterfront one) as they had a great deal for U.S. federal employees. Still hunting around though.

If you’re right in downtown Vancouver, it’s very easy to get to port. Walking is an option for many of these hotels, and Uber/Lyft/cabs are quite easy to get.

Anybody have experience with the Sheraton Wall Center or the Marriott Pinnacle? We're booked at the Wall Center for now but we may switch to the Pinnacle if I can be convinced to spend another 30k Bonvoy points.
