Vancouver: Dining Recommendations?

We've stayed at the Pan Pacific Hotel on both our Alaskan cruises so these restaurants are definitely in the area barely even five minutes and these are our top three:

Bellagio Cafe - have eaten here twice
Cactus Club Cafe - have eaten here twice
Mahony & Sons - tried if for the first time in August and the food was yummy (amazing fish and chips).

Vancouver has a lot of amazing options!

Enjoy

We loved Pan Pacific. The morning of our embarkation, my DH and DD ran down to the food court and got McD's coffee, juice and biscuits to hold us over to lunch. It was so convenient.

Another vote for Tap and Barrel. We ate there twice. Hold out for a table with a view (toward the front of the deck). One night we were asked to share and met two delightful Canadian women who couldn't wait to talk about American politics.

Indeed it's so nice! On our embarkation morning, my DS and DH went to one of the fast food locations as well and brought it back up to the room to do just as you said, hold us over until we got on the ship :) Ahh...great memories!

We ate at Bellagio's which we just kind of found because it was across the street from our Fairmont Hotel (next to the Pan Pacific). It was really good and we had great service.

We also loved our quick service meal at Prospect Point in Stanley park. They were the best fish and chips I've ever had. My hubby had the hot dog and he would not recommend that so be sure to get the fish and chips! And their ice cream was tasty too. My trip report is in my signature if you want to see our Vancouver portion.....

Do yourself a favour and skip the Old Spagetti Factory in gastown, it's gross. If you like Indian food Vij is fantastic but isn't anywhere near the downtown core. Just a few blocks from the cruise terminal is a place called Sitar at 8 Powell Street. Take a taxi (it gets dodgy at night) but it's spicy and yum! Walk a few blocks up to Robson and you'll be swimming in all sorts of restaurants, from chains such as Milestones to several hidden gems. Thierry + Macarons= heaven.

Cactus Club is good, Tap & Barrel is our fave, Rogue is pretty good too; DH loves Chewies and goes to Meat & Bread for lunch every time he's there (pretty sure he plans business trips around their specials board!!)

Tacofino is great, a bit of a walk from the waterfront and it gets really busy because it's a small place, but my sons will choose there over anywhere else if they get the chance (and they're super happy now there's a food truck!)

Especially if you're used to OSF in the US. It's the ONE time I find the foreign version to be worse than the American version.

Do NOT, however, skip Red Robin for the same reason. It's good! Though there's often a fairly long wait.

I've always avoided OSF in the US because I hate all the ones we have up here in Vancouver. Good to know they are better, next time I see one in the US it might be a dinner option ;-)

We love Red Robin, the food quality has really improved over the years. Is it different in the US? Again another chain we've never visited in the US because we figure it was the same as here in Canada. When we travel in the US we tend to go to restaurants that aren't in Canada.

I haven't been to the Canadian OSF in a few years, but even their dressings are different. The pasta is weird and the sauces aren't good. OSF in the US, to my palate, is better. Perhaps it's just different, perhaps you won't like it. But maybe you will. My fave dressing at the US restaurants, which Vancouver didn't have anything in the realm of when Iv'e been there, is the creamy pesto dressing. So tasty. :)

IMO the food quality at all RRs is getting better, but Vancouver has always been more "real food"ish than the US restaurants to me.

I read that Seth Rogen goes to the Vancouver RR, LOL. Though given his rumored usage of something that tends to make people hungry, I'm not sure if it means it's good or if it's just FOOD. ;)
