Vancouver Customs Question

I could use some help regarding customs. Our flights were changed and we now have a connecting flight with only 45 minutes to change planes. I am completely stressing out! We are flying from Vancouver to Salt Lake City to Los Angeles. I know we should go through customs after getting off the ship. When would we go through airport customs? Thank you for any help you can give!!

You go through US customs before you get on the plane in Vancouver, so allow plenty of time for that, but you don’t have to worry about going through customs between your connecting flights. It doesn’t make sense, I know, to go through US customs before you get to the US, but that’s the way it is.

I was relieved to find this out, too. We had a 1 hour layover at O’hare on our way home; no way would we have been able to clear customs there! We had an early morning flight out of Vancouver the day after we disembarked, and we got to the airport 2.5 hours ahead of time, and it was plenty of time. This was for a 6:40am flight. Later in the day, I would allow more time to be safe.

Our new flight is at 12:55 pm, almost an hour after DCL's earliest flight time suggestion, so I think we should be okay. Our original flight wasn't scheduled to leave until after 2:00, so I thought we had plenty of time! It was also a direct flight that is now a connecting flight.

You should be fine; customs seems to be pretty efficient in Vancouver, so even if the lines are long, they keep moving. The train is a quick and cheap option for getting from the port to the airport, if you don’t have too much luggage to deal with.
