So I was speaking with a friend who just returned from AKV. He mentioned that there is a shuttle van that takes you from Jambo and Kidani and vice versa. This is all the van does all day, and it's a van, not a bus.
This is news to me. Does anyone know if this is something that will be all the time or if it is just in the summer because of the heat?
TIA

I know when we were there earlier this year there was a golf cart shuttle that went back and forth- mainly for pool transportation from about 10am in the morning till sometime in the evening.

In June, a CM at Kidani Village told us a shuttle van ran about every 10 minutes between Kidani and Jambo. Although we never used the service, we saw the beige-colored vans operating during the day.

It is either than Van or Golf Cart thing. We had to wait a long time for it before like 20 min or more. If there is one there great if not we walk back to KV.

I saw the van but wasn't quite sure what it was used for. I even thought about asking if we could use it when we moved from Kidani to Jambo. But getting a park bus to get to Jambo from Kidani was a breeze - we waited 5 minutes tops.

We took the van to our Sanaa reservation (we were staying at the Jambo villas)...couldn't take it back b/c no one cared to share with us that the van stops running at 9. I should mention that we took the van over at 8 and they knew (the valet lady that suggested we use it AND the van driver) we were dining at Sanaa, but still didn't think to mention it.

And it was last December during the freezing cold snap, we had a 6 year old with us, we'd never been to AKL before, and we were exhausted.

So now YOU know...it doesn't run 24 hours a day. And I hear the path is quick and simple, but nothing seems quick and simple late at night in a brand new place when you've been freezing your heiny off for days. (and the complaint about that lack of full information given despite knowledge of OUR situation is what got us the credit on our account)

I agree with you that the valet lady an the van driver could have told you that the van stop working at a specific time, but, I think that it was also your responsability to ask the question, speciality if had a young children.

I cannot beleive you have been compensated for that.

WAIT! Are you saying you got a credit because someone neglected to inform you that a shuttle quit running at 9PM when there is an easy sidewalk to take between the two locations???? If that's the case, then this refunding money to people who complain at Disney is getting WAY out of hand. My DH has severe knee issues (we're in our mid 60's), and we would have walked it without ever thinking to complain, much less expect a refund. :confused3

We stayed at AKV for the first time in Sept 2010 and we were told about the shuttle and the fact that it stopped running after a certain time. Actually at that time it was aroud 6pm I believe it stopped running so I'm actually happy to hear it stops running at 9pm now.

On our last trip in June we actually used the shuttle van to get from Jambo to Kidani for the pool. On our way back we were prepared to take a bus because we were slightly wet and our 20 month old son had passed out. As we were walking the shuttle pulled up, they spread towels on the seat for us and told us to hop on! :thumbsup2

To be honest to the person who stated they complained about not being informed the shuttles run times why didn't you assume either to ask if it stopped running at a certain time or just take a bus back to the other side of the resort? Taking the shuttle over that late at 8pm I'd almost automatically assume since it's only a resort shuttle it would stop running. Yes, I agree the valet should have informed you, but there is a path to walk and constant running buses to use. I think the fact that they gave you a credit was going above and beyond for this. :confused3

.......and it's a pleasant walk too!

DH walked (I have to scoot....getting a new knee soon)...and it wasn't bad. Now your DH and bad knee.....I'm not sure he would want to do it often....but if the van stopped running.....it probably wouldn't be life-ending if you paced the walk well.

Yes, I agree.....out of control if this is true!

I'm glad to hear they might have this. Hoping they keep it going year round and not just for hot weather.

A shuttle van or golf cart would have been wonderful when we were last there and needed to go from Jambo back to Kidani after dinner (unrelated, but dinner was horrible). It was freezing out, son was ill, and my foot was hurt. Walking was not in order - it was at least 30 minutes before that DTD bus came by.

I couldn't agree more! And....when the prices continue to increase and people complain, we know one reason for the increases don't we?

I have read at least 3 posts in the last 2 days where people got credits or cash because they complained about issues that frankly, I don't think were that big of a deal!

Our country is moving so quickly into the "me, me, me" mode that I am sickened! Is there anywhere left with good old fashioned values and suck-it-up attitudes?

I'm sorry-I usually don't comment on these types of posts...but I can't help but to think that in the length of time it took to complain, you could have walked to Jambo and back. By the sounds of your post, you complained enough for someone to pick you up AND receive compensation for what is labeled a "courtesy" van. Or did you just rough it and take a bus? :confused3

EXACTLY! The sense of entitlement is what really irks me.

I do not think that person complained to get the credit. They are just stating that Disney gave them a credit....

Disney is all about SERVICE!!!! And if someone feels they did not get good service and mentions their frustrations that their business.

I find it weird on these boards that when somene shares their experiences, if they are not perfect people jump on them.

Just my 3 cents...

I will be at AKL the first time next month and I appreciate everyones informaton, opinions, review and experience to help me know what to expect or what to ask for help with.:wizard::wizard:

Ok, if you find that you don't like:

- walking for 10 minutes
- riding WDW busses
- Florida's "cold" weather

I really think you should consider a vacation destination other than WDW.

I'd understand if incorrect information was given this would be a valid complaint, but lack of (what is claimed as) disclosure, coupled with not taking the initiative and asking the questions to ensure an anticipated service doesn't justify a reaction/complaint.

On our December vacation we used the van frequently, as our mom was staying at Kidani while we stayed at Jambo. It was very helpful. We never saw the golf cart and never walked or took the bus between resorts. We never had to wait long at all for it to arrive. It's a very convenient service.

In June we needed to get to Jiko quickly ...for the Wanyama Safari...The girl out front of Kidani told us to wait 2 minutes as the van would be right back..It took us right to the front door and we made the Safari in the nick of time.
The rest of the week we walked back and forth to Mara it was a 5 minute walk.

This is nice to know, but we have always had no problem riding the resort busses as a means to get from Jambo to Kidani. We have never stayed at Kidani but have been at AKL on a number of times, including twice at the Club level and have never been informed of the van/golf cart.
