Value Resorts in December?

We are thinking about going next December to see WDW decorated for Christmas. We were thinking about staying at a value this time to help keep the cost down. Besides Pop Warner, are there any other big events at the Values to avoid between Thanksgiving and Christmas? Also, is Pop Warner always the 1st week of Dec?
