Value Resorts and Inside Staterooms? Bah Humbug! 30 days of Disney fun! 02/10 Day 30

Day 19, September 1

Disney Dreams - Part 2

Oliver was taking care of us again and he brought out our welcome drinks,
a Mimosa and some water with a slice of lemon in it. And then it was time for our tour of the buffet.

IMG_7134.jpg

Oliver explained all the goodies, pointed out a few extra nice treats and then handed us some plates to serve ourselves.

IMG_7121.jpg

IMG_7124.jpg

We both filled our plates with lots of wonderful seafood and cheeses and some very yummy breads. At one point in our feast Tom even went back to get some more cheese and bread for both of us.
When we had finished the first part of the buffet we ordered our hot dishes.

IMG_7141.jpg

Tom ordered a Fritatta, an open faced omelette, which was huge and very tasty and came with a little salad, while I ordered

IMG_7139.jpg

the Egg Florentine, English Muffin, sauteed spinach, poached egg, hollandaise and parmesan shavings.
We were actually full but still had desserts to conquer. So, after ordering some coffee and Earl Grey Tea, we made our way over to the heavenly dessert offerings.

IMG_7147.jpg

IMG_7142.jpg

We both picked a plate full of desserts, went back to our seats, waved to Teresa and Mick, who had arrived in the meantime and sat down to devour our treats. Everything was so good and we felt stuffed when we finally signed for the extra bill at Palo and it was then that Oliver mentioned, that if we wanted to, he could get us another reservation at Palo for dinner that day. :rolleyes1
Now that was something we could not pass up, so we thanked him a lot and told him that we were going to see him that evening. We dragged ourselves back to our stateroom, changed into some more comfortable clothes, picked up the rest of our Fish Extender gifts and made our usual round to deliver them.

When we got back to the stateroom we did a little packing up and finally plopped down into the chairs out on our veranda. We enjoyed our time sitting out there and watching the waves and discussing what still lay ahead of us this vacation. We had already enjoyed two thirds of it, but there were still 10 more days to enjoy.

What a lovely vacation. I can't believe you got to go for so long!

The food at Palo looks wonderful. I would have been drooling over the whole spread.

I LOVE those elevator hands! So cute! :goodvibes

Yes, I know we can consider ourselves super lucky that we get to go to Florida for 4 weeks during the summer! :goodvibes
We just returned from this weeks vacation and we got even more days on the Disney DREAM (11 nights! :thumbsup2) - we loved it so much.

Palo is wonderful, whatever meal you have there, the food is just divine! :cloud9:

There are so many "hidden" Disney touches on the Disney cruise ships - they really know how to put a smile on your face! ;)

Looks so good. I am actually considering Palo. I'll have to wait and see how things pan out, but I think I would like brunch if I can get it. Whats the dress code for brunch? Is it stil lvery dressy, or slightly more casual?

Brunch on the DREAM is a little different. You should definitely check it out in November next year! ;)
Dress code is exactly the same all day round, no matter if you go for brunch, tea or dinner. It is a bit dressy.

Day 19, September 1

Disney Dreams - Part 3

We had already enjoyed two thirds of it, but there were still 10 more days to enjoy.
By the early afternoon we got ready to head out again. This time we had signed up for a wine tasting. We all gathered inside the Parrot Cay Restaurant where a long table had been set, glasses had been poured and a few people were already sitting there.

IMG_7149.jpg

We joined them and after all the spots had been filled the sommeliers came to introduce themselves and to tell us about how to determine wines.

IMG_7150.jpg

IMG_7151.jpg

We then got to try all the wines and the Fairytale Champagne they offer. Having tasted all those wines we were in really high spirits

DSC_0907.jpg

DSC_0908.jpg

and started to walk around the ship and enjoy the glorious sunny day at sea.
We walked all around the ship, tried different sun lounges and explored some areas we had not seen before.

IMG_7158.jpg

IMG_7152.jpg

But then it was time to head back to our stateroom to finish packing and to make our way down to the Walt Disney Theatre for the final show of the cruise, Disney Dreams.
We love this show, it is such a tear quencher and we had told Teresa and Mick about it and that it was really worth seeing. We were delighted to see them there. We felt like having another drink and picked up

IMG_7163.jpg

two Pina Coladas to enjoy during the show.

Needless to say that the show was wonderful as always and ended in standing ovations and the rest of my drink being spilled all over my trousers.
So when the show was over we headed straight back to our stateroom, so I could change my trousers. I finished packing everything we did not need any more, and we had a look if we could fit everything else into our carry-ons.

Then it was time to leave for our dinner reservation at Palo.

That show looks amazing! I would totally spill my drink too. :lmao:

Sorry about packing, but I can't wait to hear about Palo!

Karin the pictures of Disney Dreams are beautiful who took them you or Tom? We had a great time on the Wonder! Wish we could afford to take the Hawaii trip.

I think Disney Dreams is the best show I have seen on one of their cruise ships so far. So DISNEY!!!!!!!!!!!!
The new shows we saw on the DREAM were nice, but I really LOVED this one!

Tom took them - he's got the better camera. Yes, our times on the Wonderful Disney Wonder were Wonderful! :rotfl2: I really enjoyed the ship and its crew.
Don't get me started on the Hawaiian cruise - not only is it at a time we will never be able to cruise and the price is a bit on the :scared1: side! :rotfl2: But at least we'll get to go on the DREAM again! :thumbsup2

Day 19, September 1

Disney Dreams - Part 5

Then it was time to leave for our dinner reservation at Palo.
Again we took the elevator and were soon greeted by Oliver, who handed us the menu, offered to bring us some more drinks, but this time we had to decline. Too many drinks all day long, so we just opted for soft drinks.
Right after our drinks were served Oliver brought

IMG_7167.jpg

The Specialita' Del Palo: Antipasto Freddo, Prosciutto, Bresaola, Parmesan Reggiano, Marinated Olives and Sun-dried Tomatoes and

IMG_7169.jpg

the Pane Casalingo, freshly-baked Bread in their Pizza Oven, Grissini Sticks, Olive Rolls, Ciabatta Rolls and Six Grain Wholemeal, together with

IMG_7168.jpg

Palo's famous homemade dips, olive tapenade, aioli and roasted pepper & garlic. Menu in hand we started reading and deciding what to have before indulging on the wonderful antipasti we had just received. And while we were still discussing the menu, Palo’s sommelier, who we had met earlier on during the wine tasting, came over to us for a little chat.
Then it was finally time to place our orders. We both had decided on trying their pizzas. Tom ordered

IMG_7173.jpg

the Pizza Al Gamberi, Tomato Sauce, Mozzarella, Shrimp and Asparagus, which was really nice, while I wanted to try

IMG_7171.jpg

the Pizza Margherita, Tomato Sauce, Sliced Tomatoes and Mozzarella.
Whilst it was really tasty I was surprised to find the base not to be homemade! The sauce however was really good and so were the tomatoes, very fragrant and top notch Mozzarella. We both enjoyed it, but could not finish it, especially since we wanted to enjoy our main course and dessert as well.
Once we had finished our starters Oliver brought the Palate Cleanser,

IMG_7174.jpg

a Lime Sorbet, which was refreshing and tart. And then it was on to Main courses. Tom had ordered the

IMG_7181.jpg

Chicken Braciola, a baked Chicken Breast filled with Escarole, Raisins and Pine Nuts served with a light White Wine Sauce and it was to die for. I had wanted to try

IMG_7179.jpg

the Lasagna with meat ragout, bechamel sauce, tomato sauce and sauteed mushrooms. While it did not look all that big a portion, it was more than I had bargained for. But it was very good and tasty, just too much to finish.
For dessert we had both ordered something we just cannot get enough of,

IMG_7187.jpg

IMG_7183.jpg

their famous Chocolate Soufflé, with Vanilla Bean and Chocolate Sauce. We both did our best to finish the dessert and we succeeded. When it was time to sign the bill and leave a tip we asked Oliver if he would be willing to take the rest of our FE sweets and maybe share them with his fellow Cast Members.
He wasn’t sure about sharing but was more than happy to take the sweets. We than finished our digestive,

IMG_7189.jpg

prosecco with lime sorbet, before we said our final goodbyes.

It was quite late and we still needed to put our luggage out, so we headed straight back to our stateroom, removed the door decorations, slipped into more comfortable clothes and packed the rest of our stuff, checked if we had forgotten something and out the door the suitcases went. When we checked if they were still there about 15 minutes later, they had already been collected.

We sat out on the balcony, watching the waves disappear in the dark of the night, before we finally headed back onto the top decks to take a few more night photos.

IMG_7200.jpg

We walked around taking photos for about an hour before we made it back to our stateroom

IMG_7192.jpg

for our final night on board the WONDERful Disney WONDER.

The food looks delish!!!Tom's Pizza is definately appealing to me Shrimp and asparagus:cloud9: Your Lasagna looked wonderful too !!!
The show was just beautiful !!1How long was it ??

Love your cruise updates :) You know I just realised we never got a lemon sorbet between courses at Palo, only at the end (so so so delish).

That show looks really good. I love the costumes.
Paige is now not coming with us, so I may not even look into Palo. I wanted to do something special with just here, but now since she is not coming, I don't want to go by myself and will wait till a future date to do it with Skip...maybe.

All the Palo food was devine! We had some really good pizza on the Wonder and this year on the DREAM too! ;) :thumbsup2
Disney Dreams is a wonderful show. It is such a tear quencher - I need Tom to load up the video he made of Tink sprinkling the ship with Pixie dust - makes me fight the tears every time!
And to answer your question - all their shows are about 45 - 50 minutes long! :goodvibes

You never got a palette cleanser? Shame on your server! We always receive one and it is very nice to have something refreshing between courses.
The drink at the end is wonderful - always looking forward to it! :thumbsup2

Ahh Palo

I cannot wait to try that dessert someday. :)

Palo is wonderful! You definitely have to have the Chocolate Souffle - it is out of this world good! And they just know how to "advertise" it! :rotfl2:

It is my all time favourite show that I have seen so far on the Disney ships! The story was soooo sweet and to see all the characters (and special effects) is pure Disney magic!
You HAVE TO try Palo, Jen. Why not have brunch with your mom? Or afternoon tea?
Watch out for both in my new DR/TR from this summer! :thumbsup2

Day 20, September 2

A sad Goodbye to the ever so WONDERful Disney WONDER and a happy Hello to the Deluxe Disney Dining Plan and Old Key West - Part 1

We woke up pretty early

DSC_0133.jpg

DSC_0134.jpg

to discover that we had already docked at Port Canaveral.

DSC_0137.jpg

Since it was so early and we had a late breakfast reservation I went back to bed to sleep for a little longer. About an hour and a half later we both got up, took showers and got ready to leave our stateroom.
When we got down to Triton’s we discovered that they were running behind and that the line of breakfast diners already snaked around the corner and down the hallway. We joined the line and after some time it eventually started to move. We still needed to hand out our tip envelopes, so it was good to see all the servers again.
We were seated at a large table towards the back of the restaurant, Teresa and Mick arrived there too and our servers handed us the breakfast menus. We all ordered drinks, Tom ordered coffee, I ordered Tea and orange juice and again, the juice made it to the table, the tea did not.
They put fruit plates on all the tables, but I don’t think any got eaten. We actually ordered our breakfast the other way around. Tom had what I had for my last farewell breakfast,

IMG_7208.jpg

the Route 66, scrambled eggs, bacon, grilled sausage, grilled ham, and hash browns. Standard fare, but it filled the spot. I got

IMG_7207.jpg

the Chef's Farewell, a large open faced omelet topped with barbecued chicken, green peppers, onions and melted Swiss cheese. It was not what I had expected, but then it might have been that we all were unhappy about leaving the ship.
Once we had finished breakfast, we all said our final goodbyes, vowed to meet again on the DISboards and then it was time to leave the ship. We took our carry ons, walked past the Cast Members waving goodbye under the "See you real soon" signs

DSC_0141.jpg

and signed off the ship. In the large luggage room we found a porter to help us with our luggage. He loaded all our stuff onto his cart, got in line with us at immigration and customs and off we went out to the parking lot to load everything back into the car.
We asked the porter to just unload everything in front of the car, as we knew getting everything into the car would take a little more time and involve some luggage puzzle. After about 10 minutes everything was finally back in the car, we got in and off we went.

IMG_7214.jpg

IMG_7215-1.jpg

We needed to check in at Old Key West AND get to our reservation at LeCellier before 12 noon.

I'm so sad our wonderful Disney Wonder cruise is over. I remember I got the route 66 breakfast too that morning. How fun you got to go to WDW after your cruise we headed straight for the airport and back home. We got some great pics and video to remember it by. And we made new friends!

I had the route 66 too. It's just very basic..Nothing special..I guess they don't want you to linger. :rotfl2:
