Value Resort-Tell me why you love them!

We stayed at AKL last February and always drove to the parks anyway. I don't think POP is much farther away than AKL from the parks...

I don't understand why people complain about how far the resorts are from the parks? They all seem very close to me when we are driving. Unless we are staying at a monorail resort then we are driving anyways.. :earsboy:

I stayed at AKL and drove everywhere and thought the same thing. The people who talk about proximity to parks are either talking about one (or two in the case of Epcot/MGM) specific park or they're kidding themselves. NOTHING is in close proximity to all 4 parks and no resort has convenient transportation (outside of busses of course) to all parks.

In light of my recent trip, as far as I can tell, driving is the most conveniant way to get everywhere (with the possible exception of the MK) and happily that transprtation option is available from every resort.

I'm replying without reading the rest. I like the value resorts because:

(1) I love the food courts. They have a great variety of food that tastes good and is reasonably priced (for WDW!). There are toasters to use in the morning (we bring our own bagels and english muffins) and microwaves to use in the afternoon or evening (for popcorn or Easy Macs). Plus, the drink islands are available from early morning to late at night for that quick re-fill.

(2) The bus transportation is really great at All Star Sports and Pop Century. ASSp is the first to be picked up (so you almost always get a seat) and the first one to be dropped off. Pop has its own bus. Value resort busses come much more frequently than Moderate or Deluxe resort busses and you don't have to wait for long for the next one.

(3) The price is right for a short trip of 3-4 days. If I'm in a value resort any longer, I miss the better pools and bigger rooms of the moderate/deluxe resorts.

The drink mug didn't include milk like it did at the ASMo when we were there 12/04.
Huh?!? I have never heard of milk being included with the refillable mug. I thought all the milk, like the juice, came in a container and was extra. Did they add a milk spiggot to the drink fountain?
