Help, I have a friend needing assistance since I never stayed a value or Hilton DTD I'm unable to give her some guidance. I was telling her that we might go to Disney in December and I'm still not sure which hotel we are staying. Then she said wouldn't it be cool if our boys go a couple of days together (they have been playmates since they are 1 and they will be 4 in December). Anyway, she was telling me she can get Hilton for $30 and did see Value for a good price too. She was asking me what hotel I would recommend for them to stay at? Is the Hilton DTD have a bus system to all parks (if not they can rent a car). They want a comforatble place to stay and convenient too. I told them that Hilton is not a Disney resort...she said she doesn't mind that as long as we meet up a couple of days. I need Disboard friends help with this one? Thank you for anyone who would share your thoughts.

I've stayed at the Hilton a few times since m DH can get us a couple free nights every once in a while. I like the hotel, it's clean, the rooms are large and you can get EMH while staying there. I never used their buses though. I usually either have my car or a rental car whenever I'm at Disney.

I've also stayed at All-Star Music and Pop once, and I personally don't like the values. So if I had a choice I would choose the Hilton. I also like that you can walk across the street from the Hilton to DTD.

For us, we like staying on property vs off-site. I've stayed at the Hilton before for a conference and it was nice, but it was just like any other Hilton across the country. About the only way you know you're at WDW is a trip to the gift shop.

I did use the Hilton bus service and it is much less frequent than Disney's service. It's okay, but not as convenient as a car and I believe you'd have to pay for WDW parking as well when staying at the Hilton.

If given a choice, I'd always stay on-site. I know that I could get a bigger, nicer room off-site for the same price, but I prefer not to. We've stayed in all three major categories of hotels and enjoy all of them. The Values are just that -- a value and you get to be on-site.

This is all a matter of preference and I know there are a lot of people out there who would never stay in the Values. We are just happy to be at WDW!

I would stay onsite. We always stay at values, and I like them. Sure, I would like to stay at a mod or del, but I can't justify the money. The big kicker for me staying at value vs. DTD resort is Magical Express (not available for non-Disney resorts - so you're paying to get to/from the airport). Also, I believe the buses are more frequent staying on-site. I know some of the off-site resorts have 'times' the buses run. I don't know if the Hilton does it this way, but it would drive me crazy knowing I had to leave at a certain time so I could catch the bus. If not, you might be waiting another hour, etc. But then again, I have a 2 yr old, so flexibility is very important to me.

Hi - we have stayed at both and loved both.

Buses from Hilton were okay (every 30 mins, nearly always on time but some stops were quite a trek to and from park entrance), shared with 2 other DTD resorts and went to 2 Parks at a time. Excellent location. My DS was 14 so it suited us - they have a pool table and a very small games room. Small kids pool and nice adults one (and hot tubs - loved them!)

However, I would say with young ones Pop would probably be better - theming, food court has more to offer, games room is a lot bigger and buses more regular and closer to parks than DTD resort bus stops.

The only thing the Hilton had that Pop didn't for us, was Tea/Coffee making facilities. There is a mini bar but no fridge.

We just had the standard room though.

Thank you everyone, I told her about your responses but her husband made the decision of them staying at Hilton for $200 for 7 days b/c they are traveling with a family member that works at hotel chain and using a car for free using points. Thank you everyone.

Since it is a nice clean hotel and for $30 a night I wouldn't think twice.
