1st half of our stay is at Saratoga Springs (DVC with a friend) 2nd half I am looking into doing a value. I have never been to All Stars Movies, but I was at POP for one nite. I can get a standard room or preferred room at each for the same price.
Which resort is "better"/which would you choose/recommend? And then WHICH should I get, standard or preferred?

Pop has its own buses, which is always better. I'd stay there. Standard rooms will be on the less convenient side of the building than preferred (further from lobby), but no difference other than that. In reality the amount of walking you'll be doing is more dependent on which building you are placed in (50's, 80's, etc.). Look at a map of the buildings in advance of online check-in, then request the one closest to the lobby if you don't want a long walk. I wouldn't bother paying for preferred at Pop.

POP- bc of the lake it feels more upscale than the other values. Get a lakeview room and also walk across the bridge to AOA.

Is POP the value that I should choose? I love the idea of Little Mermaid but heard it'sfar from everything!

We've stayed in a LM room at AofA. It's a hike to the food court. We were closer to the AofA food court when we stayed in a 60's standard room at Pop.

We've stayed at Pop and All Star Music; for the price of AoA we'll go to a Mod! I'd choose Pop, that is where we will be in August. We prefer it over the All Stars. We like the theme and food court better.

We've stayed at Pop 4 times and ASMovies 2 twice. I prefer Pop, I like that there are always separate buses. Sometimes the all stars share buses, and sometimes they are separate. I like the food court at Pop better, my husband prefers the one at ASMovies. We usually stay in Preferred room at either one, after the first time staying at ASMovies in a standard room, when we were placed in the absolute farthest room from the lobby in the Mighty Ducks Section (and as a result we rode the bus from the other resort because it was closer than the one for ASMovies).

Pop is my fav!!! Love staying in 70's section with Courtyard view..on N upper floor...nice to walk out there at night on walkway (not private but hardly anyone comes by) and get some fresh air while kids are resting..love being close to AoA too :)

I'd choose POP as well, and I would get preferred. It is nice to be close to the front for getting to the buses in the morning, and especially for walking back to your room at nt. when your feet are tired! We requested 60's building 5, and had a great location on the top floor. It was also convenient to the food court for refilling our mugs.

With little kids I'd choose Art of Animation. The LM section is furthest to the buses but if you request "close to transportation" might get lucky as we did with building 9 where it was easy to cut through the lawn and the parking area to the buses. Unfortunately the rooms there are always pricier than POP. In POP I wouldn't bother with preferred location. You're never too far from anything there.
