Value pricing inconsistent

Book POP with resort alone it's less than all stars. Book POP in free dining package it's more than all star. Makes no sense

Pop should be slightly more than the All Stars. Something must be different between the two when you are comparing the room only. I've just been messing around with both these resorts and the only way I can get any of the All Stars to be more than Pop is when comparing Preferred at All Stars and Standard at Pop.



What dates are you using?

I think that POP is located in a different county, one that has a 13% instead of 12.5% tax.

Perhaps adding in the dining plan effects the application of the tax? Or when you book room only, the subtotal doesn't include the tax?

With free dining you pay undiscounted rack rates for the room. If POP's rack rate is more than the AS resorts, the cost for a free dining package will be more. When booking a room-only rate you may find discounts are available at one resort but not another. So, if there are rooms available at discounted rates at POP and not at the AS resorts, thatcould result in POP being cheaper even though the full-price rate is higher.

Standard discounted to standard discounted. Free dining standard (no discount) to free dining standard (no discount).

I did it about six different ways; different weeks, different booking categories, etc.

Each time, I compared apples to apples and Pop was always more expensive than All Stars.

I think Pop is slightly higher in the room cost than the other values.

POP's rack rate for a std. location is $10/night more than an AllStar std. location in September. That's why it is more expensive for free dining than the AllStar Resorts.

Even when I compare rack rate POP to rack rate AllStar, POP still comes out higher in September.

which All Star did you compare it to? I ask because some All Stars (like Movies) get less of a discount (via RO discounts) than other All Stars (Music and Sports in my experience)

So it could be that you're comparing a POP discounted room to an AS Movies discounted room and POP is getting a bigger RO discount. But if you compared it to (for example) Music you'd find that the AS Music is cheaper than POP.

I've booked when Movies had a 5% RO discount and AS Music was getting a 15% - guess which resort we booked......

Incorrect. All Stars are located in Osceola county, which has the higher tax, 13%. Pop Century is located in Orange County, and the tax is 12.5%

My guess is the RO discount is a different percentage off for each. If one's a 15% discount and one's only a 5% discount, that could change the bottom line for room only.

Did you factor park tix into your equation? You said "booking POP alone"... In order to receive free dining you must purchase a min 2 day park ticket...
