Taking my first trip to Disney with my mother, wife, and 4 year old daughter for 7 days. I wanted to know what everyone thought would be better:

2 rooms at a value or 1 room at a moderate

Any suggestions?

First of all, when are you going? That may make a huge difference. The plus of 2 value rooms, is double the bathrooms. Also how old is your mother? The values are big and you may want to consider paying extra to be near the food courts and bus stops. If you, want a mod, that is small try POFQ(Port Orleans French Quarter). Have fun planning.

That is a lot of closeness for 7 days. Unless your wife is extremely comfortable sharing a room with your mom for 7 days, don't do it. I know I wouldn't want to share a room with my MIL. I know my DH wouldn't want to share a room with my mom for 7 days either. To him and to me that is just not a vacation, unless you all are a close knit family. We are going in August and my mom is coming with us. We are getting two rooms at POR. We just don't like the value resorts at all. Way too small. We like having the refrigerator too in the mod. resorts. The amenities are very nice too. I think you should check out the POFQ as stated by the other post. It is just a really nice mod. with a great pool, boat service to DTD, first on the buses that it shares with POR (most likely will always get a seat), great food court, and you can use all the facilities at POR-boat rentals, bikes, etc. With a code it would be worth it to me. If you decide to book only one room there is a curtain in front of the sink area to pull. This would give everyone at least some privacy for changing, getting ready, etc.

I have a definite opinion. Have stayed at mod and value and BOTH are absolutely fine. For me, 2 rooms over 1, no question. The bathroom issue alone is enough to make the choice. If someone has "to go" there isn't a whole lot of privacy in either moderate or value rooms. It would be nice also for time-saving in the morning to have two showers going at once...literallly cutting time in half for getting ready. Value rooms are immaculate and perfectly fine. Also, if someone wants to take a nap while others watched TV or you have one person who would like to go ahead to bed while others stay up--those two rooms would be ideal. 1 week, 2 rooms. Just my 2 cents. I need an entire house when I travel with in-laws and we love each other!

I guess the same for me. I just wouldn't squeeze into a room with my MIL no matter what. I am sure my DH feels the same way about my mom. We just don't like the value resorts at all, but that is just us. I would try to get two rooms at POFQ or POR. My DH won't stay in the value resorts at all. He said he would rather get a pool home.

I think the deciding factor is more the amount of time you plan to be in the room over bathroom time. If you plan to be out and about most of the time, then I would pick a moderate for the beauty, spaciousness and for the lower volume of guests. These factors, especially the huge amt of guests the values pack in, can really add a lot of time an irritation when it comes to the food court and buses. Also the great volume of rooms and more "motel" feel to them (don't flame me, I know the theming is wonderful!!!) can make them noisier. Also remember that large groups with lots of children often pick the value resorts.

Even when we are at our resort (POR is our favorite), we are at the pool, riding the mouseboats, riding the multi-seater bikes and/or eating. With little time to feel crowded, I'd chose the moderate.
