Has anyone left something valuable behind in a hotel room at check out? What I left was valuable to me but not to someone else. (my husbands glasses and an expensive toothbrush). We left them behind last night and discoverd our error when we arrived home this evening and were unpacking. My husband called the hotel, but no one was available who would know anything about it. He was told to call back in the morning to talk to the manager. Has this happened to you, how was it resolved?

My parents left something on a vacation one year....they contacted the hotel, explained and described the item and room it was left in and the hotel mailed the item to them. Good luck!

Back in 2000, we had a very early morning flight out of Philadelphia to WDW so we stayed at the airport hotel the night before. We checked out around 5am for a 6:30am flight with our two kids, aged 8 and 6 at the time.

At 10pm that evening, when finally settling the kids in after a long day of travelling and enjoying the Magic Kingdom, my 8 year old daughter asked "Where is Panda Mom? I need Panda".

Panda was a beanie-baby-sized bear, very well-loved, and something she slept with every night. Panda was no where to be found, but we KNEW he was with us the night before in the Phila. hotel. All I could figure was he got wrapped up in the blankets and no one saw him and packed him before we left.

She was inconsolable, and I got right on the phone to the hotel. I really didn't expect to get him back; I figured he got wrapped up with the sheets and headed to the laundry. Housekeeping was closed, so the hotel manager on duty at the time said he'd leave a message and they'd get back to me if they had it. I left our room's phone number with him, and told my DD that I did all I could. She fell asleep finally, but I could tell she was deflated to not have her dear Panda.

The next day, we left early and spent the day at the parks. Returned to our room around 6 that night to change for dinner and there was a message from the Philly hotel...they FOUND Panda and needed instructions on how to get him to us!

Rather than risk him getting lost a second time, our DD agreed to let him go 'home' and she'd see him there. The Philly hotel shipped him to our house at no charge, and he was waiting there for us when we returned. I sent a letter upon return thanking them for making a little girl very happy.

So...in our case...a very happy ending. If you can give an accurate description and where you believe it was left, its entirely possible they find what was left behind and get it back to you.

Good luck!

We had a similar situation as msmayor. We had a long weekend in Lancaster, PA and when we returned home my dd's favorite stuffed dog was AWOL. I called the hotelright away - just to make her happy - not expecting anything would come out of it. I described the dog and what room we were in and was told that housekeeping would be in the next morning and they would check with them. I was shocked the next day when the hotel called to say that housekeeping had the stuffed dog. They also mailed it to our home at no charge. I sent a letter to the company telling them that the staff at the hotel is fantastic. Good Luck!

I've left things twice, and never received them. It's all dependent on the honesty of the cleaning staff, and it seems brand new athletic shoes (I'd SAVED for them, too- was in college, going to a wedding, staying for free in a friend's hotel room, and otherwise broke!) were something the cleaning staff wanted that morning. The other thing I left was just a pair of leggings (when leggings were "in"), and they probably just got thrown away.

But I was told they weren't found both times.

Several years back my DDIL left her cell phone in a suite we were sharing in Pigeon Forge, TN. We had not gone but a couple of miles from the hotel when she remembered her phone. She knew exactly where it was. We turned around and went back to find the cleaning ladies were there. They claimed to not know anything about a phone.

We went to the manager and explained what had happened. He went to the ladies who still claimed no knowledge of a cell phone in the room. The manager took our number and said he would call if it turned up. We told him that would be nice but were going to call the corporate office and file a complaint.

Later that afternoon we were almost home when the manager called and said he found the phone. He agreed to ship us the phone so we did not have to go back. A week later when we had not gotten the phone we called back and were told it was still there. After talking to the manager he assured us he would take it himself that afternoon to send to us.

Still more time passed and no phone. This time we were told someone had taken the phone and no one knew where it was. Anyway after many calls to anyone we could find to listen to us we finally got a check for the cost of replacing the phone. Who knows what really happened?

Once when I was in college traveling with a friend she left her pillow at the hotel we stayed at. Sounds like no big deal, but "fluffy" was the only pillow my friend could sleep with. She'd had it since 9th grade (my mom gave it to her when she stayed with us one summer). "Fluffy" had the foam inside the pillow and it was all torn to pieces inside. I thought the maid would have thrown it away. We called the hotel and they had it! They held it for us and we picked it up on our return trip back home.

Another time a couple of years ago I left my reading glasses at a La Quinta. Again, they held them for me and I picked them up a few days later on my return trip back in the same direction.

I left my ortho pillow at a LaQuinta, when traveling from NY to CA to HI. I discovered it my first night in HI. I called them and they said yes they found it and it would be behind the desk until the manager came in. I called back when they said he would be there, and he said he would be happy to ship it to me..except it disappeared. It was a hurting 10 days in HI. Although I bought 2 others on the trip, I couldn't find the memory one I had.

Many, many years ago, we brought our neice, 10, she is now 25, to the world. We stayed at the Poly. She had her Teddy Bear with her. One eye missing, dirty, embarrassed to have Teddy with us. We were checking out of the Poly and moving to The Treehouses. The minute we arrived at the TreehoTuse - we realized that Teddy was wrapped up in the blankets at the Poly. We called but nothing was resolved we left the neices mailing address. This was back in the day when everything was stripped off the beds and washed. So Teddy was missing. Abouth 6 weeks later a UPS box arrived. Teddy was alive and well - missing eye replaced - and cleaned!! My neice was so excited to have him back - she recieved him the day she was born. Janis

Several years ago we stayed at Port Orleans Riverside. We left bright & early for the long drive home back to NJ. At about the Florida/Georgia border, I realized I left my watch on the nightstand. It wasn't a super expensive watch, but it was an absolute favorite (an Anne Klein bangle type).

We called the hotel several times because I knew exactly where I left it, but they said they couldn't find it. :confused3

I think a housekeeper may be enjoying my watch.

The night of my wedding, I left my "leaving the wedding" dress on a hook on the back of the front door of our hotel room. An hour after we checked out, I realized it and called the hotel - nope, it was nowhere to be found:rolleyes:

Best of luck getting your stuff back

Four years ago we were driving to WDW and we stopped overnight at a hotel in Nashville, TN. We left the next morning and continued our drive. When it was time to stop for lunch my sister realized she'd left her purse in the hotel room. I'm sure we were in the next state already. She called there and they shipped her purse to our rental home. I'm pretty sure she paid for the shipping, but we were just thankful she got her purse back.

The glasses should be fine but the toothbrush is probably already in the trash. Lots of personal items get left behind and the storage areas are small.

Last year we got a really cheap rate at the orginal Disneyland hotel... and I was very excited! I could see the Matterhorn from our room and watch the fireworks... Well we were really in LA for our DD grad from USC, and Disney was the frosting for the trip. I had taken our nice Nikon digital camera along. And in the excitement of the trip and having to check out and go to LAX and get the other DS that flew in a few days after us, I left it in the room. I remembered it was gone before we even left the park, as we checked out in the morning and went to ride a few things. We went back to the hotel only a few hours after we checked out and no one knew a thing.

BTW... my DS works at an Enterprise car rental as a car prep. He is allways finding things in cars. The policy, in writing, for most car rental companies, is you leave it, and its gone! He had a case of designer water, Perrier quarts. Bushnell field glasses. CDs glore...sunglasses,books, change. And he tried to turn it in.. but they have no way of knowing when stuff is left in the cars, and by who. They do clean them after each rental, but the cars are dropped off at one location sometimes and then driven to a different location. So it is hard to find info sometimes. He knows people at different places, Avis, et. and they do the same... so I guess if something is important we should velcro it to ourselfs!

Yes, we definetly had this happen, We never leave anything "valuable" only "embarassing". Years ago my DD now 20 left a pair of ratty "dog" slippers behind at a Hilton, and when she remembered, I told her forget it, I'll buy you a new pair. Well...a week later we received a package from Hilton, and I couldnt for the life of me think what they would be sending me...Want to make a guess???:confused3 :lmao: I opened it up and there were my DDs nasty slippers! there was a little note saying that we left them behind and perhaps someone was looking for them when we got home!:lmao: I was so happy those these were gone, I had already bought her a new pair. She was so excited to have those ratty dog slippers back! I would like to hope they would of done that if you left something behind of value. :thumbsup2

YEP, just happened to me yesterday! We were staying at WDW for the weekend, so we only stayed on Sat night at Coronado Springs. I realized this morning when we got home, that I didn't have my car/house keys. After searching here at home, I decided to call CSR lost & found and sure enough, they had them sitting right there. They are shipping them today back to me. Whew!!!

Also, we stayed for one night at the Hilton Downtown Disney and realized after we got to Port Canaveral and onto the Disney Magic that we had left all of our "formal" clothes in the closet. Disney took care of it from the Hilton and got it back to us before we even set sail. And, inside my DH's tux pocket was my cheap watch that I had apparently left on the bathroom sink.

But, we've had some bad luck at hotels too. My oldest DD has this ratty, old light green TY Baby dog that she's had since she was about 6 months old. We must have left him in the room at the Gaylord Palms, and called within hours of checking out because she couldn't sleep without him (she was about 2 at the time). No one ever found him, but thankfully I had a backup at home that just needed some love to make him ratty again! :rotfl2:

I left my finisher's medal from the Boston Marathon in a hotel drawer. I realized it on the plane back to Denver. When we landed I called the hotel to let them know. It was a Marriot. They called back and told me they found it and they shipped it back to me.

I left my cell phone and charger at the hotel my family was staying at for my undergrad graduation - they express shipped it back to me, and didn't charge me, I was surprised! Even if I had to pay I would have.

Last tie we stayed at AKL we found someone's laminated posetr sized splash mountain picture in a tube, took it to the front desk and the immediately started to look up who had just checked out that day/ship it to them :)

My husband went to California on a business trip. The day he returned home he unpacked his suitcase and realized that he left behind his Oral-B Triumph (a $130 toothbrush) and base at the hotel :scared1: . He immediately called the hotel and was transfered to housekeeping. They confirmed that they had it and it would be mailed to him the next day. Thankfully he did receive it a couple days later via Fed Ex.:thumbsup2

My husband rented a car for a road trip but returned home by airplane. When he was back home, he realized that he forgot the garage door opener in the vehicle that he rented. He called the rental place in Utah, they searched the car and found the remote. They sent it back to him via Fed Ex. We had to pay for shipping which was about $7 but didn't mind paying since it saved us $25 for replacing the remote if it wasn't found. :thumbsup2
