Friday 21st February 2003

What is that noise, oh its ok it is 3.15am and the alarm is going off, did I not just get into bed? Got up first time no hitting any snooze buttons today. Made a coffee and showered. Time to get Glenn up, but what is this? He is up and dressed by the time I am out of the shower and removing stuff from the room as souvenirs, No Glenn you cannot take them lol. I then go over to Val and Scott's room [We had each others room keys just in case] Val was up and ready but no miracle with Scott still in bed!! Eventually got him up not as gently as normal, but hey cannot be late.

Off loaded the overnight stuff into the car and looked for my mobile phone but cannot find it. I was planning in swapping the sim card to my work phone, as it is a tri-band, so put Vals card in instead. The taxi we had booked arrived 10 minutes late, but we had plenty of time.
Arrived at terminal 3 and in the United queue by 4.30am [luckily I use them for business and knew exactly what to do and where to go] unfortunately they did not open until 5.30am!! This prompts my family to tease me about being a frequent flyer, for some reason they find it extremely funny [I have only said that once in my life] it took us 20 minutes to queue and check in, we were on the 7.55 to DC arriving at 11.35am and on the 12.45 Orlando flight.

Went straight through [airside], found somewhere to sit and just chilled out. I disappeared to get a coffee and have a cigarette. When I got back Val said those famous words, just going for a look at the shops, ok I said. She then disappeared, why I did not say let me go to duty frees first I never know. When Val finally returned, I ran off to duty free picked up my stuff and got into a big queue for the till. Now time has passed quicker than I imagined, did they just announce final boarding of our flight? No can’t be it is only 7.15, then I heard it again, and the guys card in front of me is rejected, come on. Scott then appears to find me as the rest of my party are panicking. Finally pay and get away, what gate? How long does it say it will take to get there? 20 minutes. Just say we moved pretty quickly got to the gate and the security guy decides firstly that he cannot speak any version of English I have ever heard and he would have a problem with our passports. How many of you? 4 How many passports 3 where is the 4th. As I have told you Glenn is on Val's, no he still could not find it. Eventually I show him where it is. [What is the point of having a security guy that acts like he has never seen this before]? Yes I was short with him.
Get into the departure lounge and straight on the plane [767-300], Val and Scott have time to stop and take their funny pills the doctor gave them to calm their fears and chill them out.

We sit down, luckily with one spare seat [2+3], the nervous flyers sit together and Glenn sits with me in the middle. The flight was uneventful we leave 20 minutes late but make up the time and land and are at the gate on time. The point of interest was when the sky map briefly brought up we were flying over Rochester NYS [this is where I spent three months working last year, and I shared it with everyone when I come back, to a point where I bore people well I like it there east view, Greece Ridge, Applebee’s, Brio, Brook house and the Micro breweries] Oh god I am going to get teased, luckily Scott is unconscious and Val is on another planet, how I love these tablets, must slip it into their food on our return], actually Glenn noticed and says something but I decide to pretend I cannot hear him lol.
When we land Val says she is very impressed with UA, more room, more attentive and the cabin crew are not stuck up [sorry BA], she even said they were better than VA, Val thinks VA are simply the best so this is some compliment.

Anyway, we have a 70-minute connection plenty of time surely. Well nearly not!! There is only one non-US port open and we are at the back, it takes us 45 minutes to get through as we are at the back. [My blood pressure is now climbing] now it is time to pick up the cases, luckily they are through and off loaded. Quickly grab the nearest cases that look like mine and off to security, get asked are these your cases, Val looks down and says not unless my husband has changed his name to Sarah. What? No oh my god this is not my case, quickly go back and give a panicking Sarah back her case tried to explain but gave up, grabbed mine than run to check them in again for the MCO flight. No problems, now it is time to run to the gate. Off we go except for [I spy a smoking room] off I go, I earn the wrath of my family [yes I did have to have two], and we are off again running. They have already boarded our row but we are not late!!

Great flight [757-200], get to MCO two minutes early at 14.58, straight through as a domestic passenger [no security or double bag handling]. While we wait for our bags I go outside [ok you know what for], I then get Val to come out, feel this heat and humidity, just perfect. It would be perfect except for there is a man from FLT holding my name up. I then had to explain to him that we had cancelled I have an e-mail confirming cancellation [well in the UK anyway] as we got a good deal with Avis.
After collecting the bags, we went to Avis, got the car [Chevy Malibu] and off to WDW. We pass under the WDW sign and we all feel we are home. Arrived at the CRB around 4.15, checked in, brought e-ride tickets and arranged a birthday card for Val from the characters.

We are on the ground floor Martinique [2303], great room great place, it is 7 years since we were last at the CRB but it is still as nice as I remember [we stayed on our last three trips at the AS Sp + ASMo twice].

I shower and change, then we go down to Old Port Royale, buy cups and also eat, gently stroll back to the room and then get the bus to the MK.

Got to MK about 6.30pm went to guest services to activate our annual passes, the CM notices it is Val’s birthday tomorrow and gives her a badge.

We stroll into the MK and bump into someone I work with, had a chat for 15 minutes the got the e-ride bands.

We had decided to keep going so we go to sleep on US time and not wake up at 3 or 4 in the morning. We had agreed to stay until 9. We gently took in e-ride; none of us can believe we are back. We were here November 15th for three weeks last year, so this trip was booked without any planning. We have a great time at MK, we get the best few ever of Tinkerbelle and the fireworks, and then had a few rides on space mountain [too many for me and the hot chicken thing I ate at the CRB] after riding three times the boys went on another couple of times on their own. We then rode Buzz three times and the WDW people mover or TTA. We then had a walkabout got a drink etc, Val went to the main street shops and I took the boys on splash mountain and thunder mountain.
Met Val at the entrance and got the bus back to CRB. We then walked to Port Royale to get some drinks; I got a Budweiser 6 pack and walked back to the room.

I managed two beers and read a bit, but the boys were asleep as soon as their heads hit the pillow. Val fell asleep quite quickly, no doubt dreaming of being 40 tomorrow.

Tomorrow Val is 40 MK/ EPCOT/ TGI’s/DOWNTOWN
