Here are some shots I entered into a photo contest at my University:

You took those on your cell phone, right???? :lmao:

Those are beautiful Tom! Are they using the winning shots in some of their printed catalogs? I could SO see those in a University brochure!

It kind of makes me want to revisit my Alma Mater for some memorable shots. My 15 year old has kicked around the idea of becoming a legacy.... so maybe one day..........

Great shots Tom! When I see your shots, I never know whether to keep plugging along hoping for improvement, or just completely give up!

Beautiful photos! Can you win more than once? :)

My favorites are the first 3 photos, although the 4th photo would probably be better if Sarah's hair wasn't covering part of her face (just nit-picking).

I like how her hair flows with the wind in the 2nd photo. Is it me, or is this 2nd photo tinted a little green? I wonder if changing the Tint to add a touch of magenta would help with color correction. Just a thought.

I also like the first painter photo, too.

Great job! :thumbsup2

They indicated that they would/could use any of the entered shots for any purposes. So basically, the contest was a clever way to get pictures without paying the University photographer. I wonder if the cost of the prize is actually greater than the 'value' of the usable shots they got?

Thanks for the kind words...you definitely should keep plugging along. Some of my earlier shots are atrocious compared to what I can do now.

I won once, and I was satisfied with that...until now that you mention the possibility of winning twice!

On my completely uncalibrated monitor, I don't see a tint to the second one. But, like I said, my monitor is not calibrated at all. The shot is really warm, but it was like that on the particular day. I tried to do minimal editing since that the contest prohibited "substantial alterations" beyond a few things.

I don't like the 4th shot of Sarah at all. I used a crappy 2x teleconverter on top of my soft 18-200 lens, so the resulting shot is really soft. I never thought I cared about sharpness until I experienced just how soft a shot could get!

Awesome set of shots!!!!!!! It's cool how you were able to capture great perspectives of that artist at work. Good luck in the contest!!!! :thumbsup2

Your second one above is a good college student picture that I think any school of higher learning would be able to use.

I like this one the best though:

Wonderful wonderful pictures!!!!! I wish mine were a tenth as good as yours. Btw, greetings from my neck of the woods, only 45 minutes away. :) Have you taken any pictures inside the chapel? I can only imagine that it would also make a beautiful back drop. Again, beautiful photos.

I think you should be disqualified for cheating..

you used the prettiest girl on campus, that's an unfair advantage..LOL

seriously though, awesome work as always..
