Thinking about seeing that this weekend. Who has seen it? Did you like it?

Its either that movie or the Unborn. :confused3

I really did not come here just to bug you, but I must admit I have not seen either. ##hanging head in shame##
BUT I have heard V. was baaaaad. And I personally think Unborn looks GOOD!

I know that doesnt help.
Sorry.

Reviews please after you go! :goofy:

Also haven't seen it but surprisingly it has better numbers than Will Smith's 7 Pounds (I read this somewhere) I think I"ll wait for both Valkyrie and Unborn to hit the videos or movie channels!

Unborn looks really scary, I will pass on that one.
I did see on the View today that BW loved Valkryie. Of course TC was on the show so she wouldn't say much bad about it but she did say it was excellent.
I have too many other movies that I haven't seen yet so I won't go to see either.

I liked it and I was surprised by the rotten reviews. :thumbsup2

I enjoyed it. If you get a chance, check out the special on the History Channel. It made the movie even more meaningful for me. This weekend I am excited to see one of my favorite actors in Gran Torino.

I think the Unborn looks scarey too. But we've been wanting to see Valkyrie for a while so we'll see it first.

i can't wait for Defiance to come out!

nothing to add other than that if you sit around after val-whatever... you can see my brother in laws name!!!!!!! Yaaaay, Tim!!! Find him! His name is Tim LeBlanc! Something with the music or mixing or I dunno.... something. =)

DH and I watched it on the History Channel the other day, it was great! As for seeing the movie, maybe when it comes out on Netflix. I am so excited to see "Defiance", which I think is a much more exciting true story about the
2nd world war and the Nazis. You can see the clip here:

If you haven't heard of the Bielski Brothers, they were TRUE heros in the war.

I saw Valkryie last weekend, I thought it was a great movie.

Tomorrow night I'm going to see Defiance, can't wait.

I plan to purchase both when they come out on DVD.:thumbsup2

I loved Valkyrie. I thought it was great and I'm not even a Tom Cruise fan, but I am an avid WW2 buff, so that could have a role in liking it.

My 17yodd saw it with her BF. She liked it as well. She is a history buff though.

I think I would like to go see "Frost Nixon".

I heard that no one in Valkyrie does German accents -I thought that was interesting.
I listen to a podcast about movies from Slate magazine and they liked it.
My FIL who is a WWII buff liked it as well.

It starts out in German and then changes quickly to English. My husband, son, and I saw it and we all liked it.

I'm looking forward to seeing Valkryie. I also want to see Frost Nixon and Milk. I saw Doubt last week. It was good.

I saw it on Christmas and loved it! I thought it was a good movie. I was surprised so many critics bashed it.

My best friend and I went to see Valkyrie, mostly because we love seeing movies that are unintentionally bad. It wasn't awful. The subject matter itself is pretty fascinating and I think they do an excellent job retelling it. The problem is there is no character development and if you know anything about that era, some of the main character's actions are a bit inexplicable. I think they would have done better to give the viewer a bit more background (apparently, he was memeber of one of the oldest aristocratic families in Germany and a career military officer; he spent time in Poland in the first years of the war, which is why he gradually turned against Hitler).

The real problem, not surprisingly, is Tom Cruise. At any minute you expect him to say "I feel the need, the need for speed" or to start dancing in his underwear. To hear him speak German, as he does in the beginning, is pretty funny. Even the minor actors were clearly better than he is.

I think with another actor, it would have been a decent movie.

Also, it seemed painfully long, even though it was only two hours.
