I've heard and read that anyone (even people not eating at Chef Mickey) can valet at Contemporary and walk to MK. Is this true? We have a breakfast Rez at 8am and were wondering if we had to leave Contrmporary after breakfast and park at the MK lot. Thanks for any info!

If you pay for valet, you can leave the car there all day. Self parking is limited to your time at the resort, usually quoted as a maximum of 3 hours. The Contemporary is the most strict resort when it comes to enforcing parking restrictions.

last time we went, in Nov it was $20 to valet plus tips.

But if you are there after midnight you are charged twice fyi. So if you know you will park and not pick up your car until after midnight, you will be charged double.

and once you pay valet at one resort you can use the receipt at any other resort with valet and only pay once, so it was a perk for us staying at one hotel and valeting and then going to another and valeting again.

the receipt works only if you valet at another resort on the same night, right?

yes same day before midnight. I have gone to a few different hotels while hotel hopping and it was well worth it! They also keep it in there system so if you lose receipt do not worry. Have a great trip!!

So the question would be--is it THAT much more convenient to actually be worth it??

I've wondered about this -
Since they seem to have really cracked down at the guard booths when entering a resort, are they really okay with someone simply saying "I'm here to valet park" that isn't staying at or doesn't have a dining reservation at that particular resort? Just curious.

Reports are they are cracking down especially since resort guests get really upset to not have parking available to them because some one cheats the system and lies and just parks all day.

They are starting to tow and I have seen that myself.

I don't doubt it for a minute. That's why I was wondering if they'd really be okay with someone being honest and saying "I'm just here to valet park". On the one hand I don't see why it wouldn't be allowed - you're paying and not taking up a general parking space. On the other hand, the way I've seen them come out of the guard booth, scan your Magic Band, etc, I would feel funny saying that.

Last May I parked there all 3 mornings we were going to MK. Arrived at 7:15am, told the guard that we wanted to check out the resort & grab breakfast. Were allowed to valet each time. On the 3rd morning, I asked the guy who parked our car what the policy was on people valeting and walking to MK. He said that it was "frowned upon," but if people are willing to pay to valet, they will "look the other way."

Agreed!............ don't know how they would follow to check, unless its by camera............more and more cameras around WDW, like everywhere else.

I have seen them turn away guests from the parking gate when they asked to valet park at the Contemporary and they were not staying there. We had an ADR at the Wave and were told to park in the BLT side, but others without an ADR and asking to valet park all day were told there was no valet parking for non-resort guests. There were a bunch of angry people turned away, too. The line getting into the parking lot was so long, they had one security guy at the gate you open with your room ID as well as the shack.
