Valentine's gift for middle school boy

My middle school daughter has "boyfriend" at school. They are "going out" which means that they ignore each other at recess and prohibit their friends from "liking" the boy. Seriously though, there's no dating or even talking on the phone - just whatever contact they have at school.

She would like to get him something small for Valentine's Day. Any ideas for a cute, inexpensive, token of friendship for this age?

My son has been given candy and stuffed animals and silly things from girls.

Candy is sometimes a big of something: like a LARGE 2 foot candy cane, or one of those bigger hershey's kisses.

Silly things include novelty pens and silly stuff.

This describes my son and his 'girlfriend' perfectly. They get each other presents or cards when it's being done by others-Christmas, birthdays, etc.
She has gotten him small things like a wristband or something else with Cartoon Network logo. She's also gotten him tiny stuffed pandas as he LOVES them and is an 'expert' on pandas. I'm discussing Valentine's Day with him tomorrow. He MIGHT want to get her something. We'll hit the stores in search I'm sure. He often just buys her a gift for no good reason rather than for an occasion but keeps it until the occasion arises. I'm going to suggest a fun card and a small box of candy or some beautiful pencils. She's a very talented writer and a very pretty pencil might be just the thing. Does this boy like sports? My son always loves sports gifts: balls, magazines, posters of his fav players.

My son recieved orgami two colored paper for a Christmas gift and I thought it was nice. Of course, my son enjoys folding orgami, so it showed some thought. Find out if there's anything the boy likes and go with that...

She could get him a token from his favorite sports team.

My DS13 is in a relationship identical to your DDs. He has never even called this girl but he has liked her for over a year now.

He wants to buy her something "Tink" from the Disney store because she collects them. He did say it has to be able to "fit in his pocket" because bookbags have to stay in their lockers and he doesn't want to carry it around. It's a good thing that Tink is a fairy!

Wow, that sounds like every relationship going on at my school right now, aka, why I very rarely bother with dating.

Chocolates are good, just a small box, or a stuffed animal.
