The Rand McNally site shows that there are 88 miles of road construction around the Valdosta area.

Might anyone know of an easy (I get lost easily) bypass for some, if not all, of this mess?

My family & I stayed in Valdosta last month & we were not slowed down by the construction. The only thing they are doing in some parts of the road is narrowing the road down to 1 lane, so it's not as bad as it sounds.

CR Resort Fan 4 Life, I am relieved to hear that. In a journey of nearly 1,000 miles we must expect some rain and some delays but 88 miles all in one stretch had me a bit concerned.

Thank you so much for taking the time to ally my fears. :sunny:

Slightly Goofy, I'm sorry to say we had trouble on northbound I-75. There was construction from the Florida state line up until just before Atlanta.

The construction didn't slow us down tremendously, but there were times we crawled along the highway. We ran into an accident also, so we stopped to eat for an hour thinking it would clear out. We left the restaurant only to discover that it was just as muddled as it was an hour earlier.

We drove down taking I-65 southbound through Alabama and it was a breeze. It took approximately 45 minutes longer, but it was a much nicer ride than I-75.
