hello we bought a food saver from kohl’s but doesn’t work right. It’s a white machine and it was on sale. We didn’t get a good tight seal. We tested a candy bar . It sealed it but the next day bag was sealed but the air came out and no tight seal.

What’s a good machine that won’t break the bank that I can buy in store ?
Thanks

Did you do the candy bar in the candy bar wrapper or are you doing it in the actual food saver bag? Also have you used a food saver of any brand before?

You have to use the food saver bags. You can buy the generic version of the bags from Amazon.

It was a see’s candy wrapped in foil so no air in the wrapper. Then we placed it in the bag that came with the machine. It seemed slow sucking out the air and didn’t seem like it sucked it out tight. We also did a rack of ribs . I noticed it sealed and sucked out air but not as tight as the YouTube videos we watched. Hubby out those in the freezer so hope it’s sealed. I left the candy bar on the counter to see if it stated the same the next day because I just wasn’t about it. Sure enough the bag didn’t hold the sucked out air. It was like I had just placed candy in a ziplock bag. I told hubby maybe it’s just our machine defective ‍♀️

I have the white foodsaver model FM2110

Ive never used a foodsaver before. We read directions and watched you tube videos that’s why I tested the chocolate cuz it didn’t seem to be sucking out air really tight

We have a foodsaver that is 12 years old and never had issues. We buy the generic bags and use it a lot when DH is processing his venison. I will say I never use it...that's his territory!

how long have you had it? if it's not within kohl's return time frame then if it's new it's well within the warranty period from food saver. we have one we use ALLOT w/great results but did have to replace it once (but we got ours through costco so that extended the warranty from the original 5 years-yup 5 year warranty so at about year 6 costco just refunded the price and we got a new one).

How big is the piece of chocolate compared to the bag? Should it matter, not not really but at the same time if you're putting a bite size piece of candy into a quart or bigger bag then you're just looking for trouble imo. I'd be much more concerned that it's working on meat and things that are more appropriately sized to the bag they were put in than a piece of candy.

Mine says to wait 20 seconds between doing bags so it can cool. But I've also had problems where if you don't get it lined up correctly it doesn't take all the air out. There is room for user error regardless of how often/how long you've been using one. I would use it more and see how it goes than to base it off a piece of candy.

We bought it last month.

Well the candy was slightly smaller than the palm of my hand. Bag size was regular size piece of printing paper. The ribs had to be done several times because it wasn’t sucking the air out, that’s why I watched YouTube and told my husband something isn’t right. I think we should do an exchange maybe we got a bad one. He say return and get a nicer one from sams or Costco but those are like $179

costco has them on sale regularly for around $30 off but right now the regular price for the 2 in 1 sealer is $139.99 on-line on their website. this is the one i've got and the only difference i can see between it and the higher priced one is the higher priced one comes with some plastic containers and such. if you get it from costco and don't like it they will take it back in a heartbeat.

when you find one you like-sign up on the foodsaver website for email offers b/c they will occasionally do GREAT sales (bogo and occasionally 3 for the price of 1). we use allot of the moisture blocker bags-they work really well if you buy and bag bulk ground beef or sausage (or like us buy bulk pork and grind it up ourselves).

I have had 2 FoodSaver brand machines, and they both worked fantastic. Sometimes it can take a bit of trial and error to figure out how to use them. Maybe try again, watching some videos and how to seal? If not I would try to exchange it. They are good machines.

I bought this one from foodsaver. I did buy the remanufactured as it was 1/2 the price. I have had others that were fancier but this super simple one is by far my fave. I didn't like the ones where you stick the bag in and the machine senses the bag and clamps down. I felt like I was constantly jiggling it trying to line it up. This one you open the lid and place the open end right in the vacuum channel then clamp down with the lever on the side.

It might be defective and it might be user error. I know that’s not super helpful.

I have a food saver and most of the time it’s great. But if part of the bag crinkles funny than it can sometimes mess it up and it doesn’t seal right. You said you were using the provided bags so this shouldn’t be an issue, but I’ve had problem with generic from amazon brand bag sealing right and holding a seal. I just pay a bit more for the food saver bags since it’s not worth the effort to redo them if they get wonky (I think it’s the thickness of the generic bags or something).

I’ve never shopped at Khol’s So I don’t know the exchange policy, but if exchange it sooner than later if you can. Then you’ll know if it was defective. I don’t know that model so maybe it’s just a crap version?

Returned the food saver from Kohl’s and plan on getting the one from sams club. It’s the$179 one and it’s on sale for $139. Anyone have the one from sams? Let me know how you like it.

Vacuuming fresh fruit. Does it last longer if so how much longer

-blueberries

-fresh cut up zucchini do I need to do anything to it if I plan on using it in 1-2 weeks?

Fresh cut up zucchini can i freeze it?

I found some Foodsavers Fm2000s on sale at Ollie's Bargain Outlet for $30. I've been wanting a Foodsaver for quite some time. But a price that low for one seems rather fishy. I know there's a difference in different models. Is this one worth buying? How big of an item can this particular model seal? Where can I buy more bags when I run out?

I have used a food saver for 4 years and never had an issue. Got it at Costco. It could be the type of bag you are using.

You can get bags just about anywhere. Walmart, Target, Sams Club, Costco, & online. I have used mine to seal a whole chicken before. They sell bags big enough to hold a turkey.

Yes you can cut up zucchini and freeze it. What i would do first though it cut the zucchini and put it in a container and freeze it for a few hours. This will lock in the juice from the zucchini. Then transfer it to a foodsaver bag and suck the air out and freeze it. By freezing it first when you go to suck the air out of the bag, you will not be sucking out all the juice from the slices since the juice will already be frozen.
