Vaccine requirement change date

I am not trying rehash old threads that get shut down, but I can't find the answer. Does anyone know or where to send me to find the date that DCL put the under 12 vax requirement into place? Was it 2 months out from the Jan 13 date? Just trying to hedge bets if the under 5 come out in another month or 2, when that get put into place (just guessing but figure it will).

I think what you are asking...
The 5-11 vaccine was made available in the US on Oct. 29, 2021.
DCL will require passengers ages 5-11 to be fully-vacccinated as of Jan. 13, 2022. So 2.5 months (10 weeks) after the vaccine became available to that age group.

They gave everyone about 2.5 months, but that's only about a month to made a decision and get an appointment. My kids are considered fully vaccinated as of Sunday, and they got the vaccine as soon as we could or about a week after it was approved.

Sorry, I was curious how long after the Oct 29 availability that DCL notified that it would be required. Sorry, apparently need more coffee to make sense!

But using the 2.5 months from availability to requirement may be a good measure as well. I assume they will follow suit when the next group is available. Thanks

Wow I didnt realize it was such a short window for those sailing in late January, especially seeing so many countries have different interval waits between shots. Thank God getting an appointment is not really a fight anymore.

I do agree it was a bit hard on our friends in Canada who have an eight week interval between shots. But they did give people booked on spring 2022 cruises the option to cancel or rebook without penalty. They did the same when they rolled out the requirement for 12 and up. So if they do require it for under 5s whenever that approval happens, hopefully that would be an option for parents of under 5s then too.

They are saying trials will be complete for the 6 months- 4 year olds at the first of the year. My guess vaccine will be required on cruises by April.

The time for approval is First half of 2022 for 2-5 and second half of 2022 for 6 months to 2 years. But it seems like they might be behind schedule.

Gosh, I hope so. Our cruise is scheduled for the end of August and it would be great to have that extra layer of protection. Plus, hopefully the nursery will reopen. 🤞

I agree! My grandkids are ready. They are booked on our next cruise Feb 2022 and our September 2022 cruise.

And then there is the other chunk of us that will be cancelling if vaccines are still required by then. Summer is so far out so a lot can change.

I wasn’t talking about Disney requiring it, just the vaccine being available to another group of passengers. And that would hopefully make more parts of the cruise “normal” again.

the trials for 2-5 yo for Pfizer failed, and they are doing new trials. If new ones go well sometime in first half off 2022 they will present the data, so have awhile.

Well, this is bad news for anyone who wants cruising to get back to normal.

More specifically, they're looking to add a third dose two months after the second dose. So, we'll probably have to wait until spring to get anything approved for 0.5-5 year old kids.

I’m suddenly grateful the kid will be over 5 in January. It’s going to be rough for 2 I don’t want to think about 3
