Vaccination and mask requirements at DLR/Anaheim

I'm thinking of planning a DLR in March over our kiddos' spring break. Is there a link or can someone share what the requirements are for DL and restaurants in Anaheim as far as vaccination cards and face mask requirements? Just trying to decide if it would be a viable option or not. We were supposed to visit in July 2020 but that trip was cancelled of course. Thanks!

Currently the policy at Disneyland is that masks must be worn indoors, but not outside. They do not currently check for vaccine cards or tests. The rules you may have heard about for restaurants and other venues within LA County are different because Anaheim is in Orange County and does not have such rules. In LA County (i.e. Universal Studios) they do check for vaccine cards/negative tests. Things could change in Orange County by spring of course, but there's no way to know.

Thank you!

Certainly. I was just there and found it to be pretty easy, even in LA County. Restaurants would just look at ID and a picture of the vax card on on my phone. This included to enter Universal Studios. In Anaheim, Disney has reminder announcements in the line queues that start outside but eventually go inside that masks are required once you enter the enclosed space. Some rides, like Big Thunder, did not require masks at all as the queue is entirely outdoors. Sometimes it ws confusing, like at Snow White where it's covered but open - they wanted masks the entire time there. The CMs are nice about it though - they just give you a reminder. 😷

Along these lines... Is there any social distancing at the parks anymore? In the restaurants or in the lines?

Also, isn't there a list somewhere of which rides require masks? I couldn't find it when I looked earlier.

We haven't been anywhere as busy as Disneyland for so long, I want to have some idea of what to expect as far as people's covid precautions. We have gone to a few outdoor places like the zoo and a local theme park. We're finally all vaccinated, which certainly helps us feel safer being out and about.

This is perhaps a weird question, but how many masks did people go through for a day at the park? I'm planning on 3 a day, in case they get wet on splash or something.

No social distancing. They are back to the announcements- please fill in all available empty space. Outdoors no masks required. Indoors masks required, but of course you take them off to dine.

You will not find much in the way of social distancing. Restaurants are probably a bit better than lines, I think the indoor tables may be spaced more than they used to be.

There is not a list (that I know of) of rides that require masks. Essentially, if it’s indoors then you will need a mask. There have generally been CMs stationed at the point where the line goes indoors to remind people to wear masks.

We wear fabric masks and have only used one per day. Three seems overkill to me, but also we don’t have kids or ride water rides.

It seems to be the easiest to just put on a mask when you get in line for any attraction, and you can take it off after you exit.

I don't know why (even pre-covid) some guests love to get as close as possible to the people in front of them, so I like having a mask on if you can feel someone's breath inches away from you. I was never a fan of the "fill in all available space" spiels, but I understand the CM's are pressured to get line moving so it's not their fault.

Last week, we were horrified at the lack of distancing in SOME of the ride lines. (We did all outdoor ADRs or mobile ordering, and had no problem with lines in/outside of restaurants.) This actually has led me to feel a bit disappointed in Disney in general, which is sad, because I go to DL a couple of times a year, or at least I did.

Many of the lines, to be sure, are one long stretched out line which curves around with enough distancing between the two sides of the curve, if that makes sense, and it's likely you'll be comfortable in them. This was true on the newer rides (including LL ROTR) and even some of the older ones. But... sadly... rides in Fantasyland, Haunted Mansion, etc., are shoulder to shoulder. You are standing within 2 feet of the mouths of people on either side of you, and if the line stalls, you are standing right there for awhile, and there was no breeze when we were there. About 40% of those in line were wearing masks. If you're concerned about catching the flu, or a cold, or another respiratory illness, or COVID-whatever-variant is around when you go (which we were), you will probably be uncomfortable waiting in those lines. They do drop down to nothing at the very beginning and the very end of the day, which is when we rode them.

Keep in mind we did go on re-opening day, and that was just heaven for a number of reasons. Although it wasn't as crowded this time as I expected for December, it was pre-pandemic crowded.

As for checking for vax cards, to add to what a previous poster said, in LA, they won't check your card if you are seated outside, and an enormous number of restaurants have outdoor areas now.

Social distancing is no longer a requirement in the state of CA, period. It has nothing to do with Disney.

I'm aware (I live in CA); just would have hoped they could moderate those lines a little bit. The metal barriers creating the lines that go back-and-forth outside an attraction are narrow. And for one thing, people are a lot bigger than they were in the 50s! :D

Beginning tomorrow, Wednesday, all of California will have an indoor mask mandate. Events with 1,000 or more people will need to either show proof of vaccination or a negative test to attend. I think that is specific to events and won't include theme parks.
