Vacations listed in signatures

I don't think anyone should apologize or try to justify what is in their signature on a social forum. The space is for the poster to display their personality, within discretion. If we worried about upsetting someone who was affected by how many vacations we took, or how many children we have, or what sport we like...everyone's sig would be empty.

:thumbsup2

and...sidenote...BECAUSE of this thread, I made my signature vacations more noticeable by adding color.. LOL
It's fun for ME to see....takes me to my 'happy place' :goodvibes

I don't get why it's even a question or issue on a message board devoted to Disney. :confused3

If that baffles you, you should go to the thyroid forum. People put their labs in their signatures. :lmao:

Why wouldn't you put your trips in your signature when people also put pictures of dogs, kids, kids' ages, birth tickers, trip tickers, cars, etc? It's all just personalization and sharing. I see a ticker in your signature as well...

I just did it because it seemed "cool" here and everyone else was doing it.... Anyway, I am one of the few who has a non-disney trip in their signature. It was meant to go to Disneyland for part of it, but I wasn't able to go. Hence, a non-disney trip.

My only beef with the signatures is that some of them are not very graphically pleasing.

It looks like a W-9 tax form for some of them!

I will be happy to read how many times you've been if you make it pretty.

Some of them are very pretty...

Oh yeah, and like Velma, I'm very nearsighted, so the tinier you make the font, the less likely I am to read it. ;)

I find it kind of fun. I figure here, everyone else loves Disney as much as I do, so who better to share it with? Eventually, we want to try all of the resorts, and that's kind of a badge of honor around here, isn't it?

I don't have a problem seeing Concierge (ours was a timely free upgrade, so I think of it more as a Wow! type thing than a bragging thing), or DVC for that matter. Regardless, we stayed there so it goes in.

I'm in awe of people who have trips going way back to opening in the 70's, or Disneyland as a kid in the 50s and 60s, so that's kind of a badge of honor, too, which, to me, is cool, seeing as DH and I had our first trips ever well into adulthood.

There are also people who go several times a year, or every few months. Cast members or former cast members. Stock holders. Whatever. It's all good. :wizard:

I just thought it was a way to "get to know" fellow dissers and this being a Disney discussion board I thought it was proper. Kinda like personalizing our space. To me it is like picking out a avatar, putting cute sayings in, etc. I never really thought of it as bragging but just sharing info with fellow dissers.

when I read your post it really clicked...we like to personalize our space....and its fun...that is so true:) and it makes it our own.

also...I do have concierge in my list because it was my honeymoon and a huge deal to us to get to stay in the Poly concierge. It made us really happy and reminds us a great trip.

it does help me when I am asking a question perhaps about BC concierge and the person who replies has stayed there a bunch (as listed in her post)...because then I feel like his/her answers are even more helpful due to experience....

I find it interesting that there are quite a few people who don't see the point of putting their Disney history in their signature on a Disney discussion forum, but do see the point of putting random quotes, pictures of their pets, things they think are pretty, etc.

I actually really like that, too. I don't like pictures of people's kids, though. Not because I don't think that they're precious, I just don't think it's safe putting a pix of your kid out there where anyone can click on it, download it to their own hard drive, and now your kid's picture is theirs. Freaky.

I like Grumpy Pirate's pirate kitties.

Up until today all you had to do was click on any of my trip dates and you would have won cash and prizes. j/k ;)

I'm getting old and it's the only way I can remember where I was if the cops should happen to ask .... again kidding.

I don't really know why I list them? I think years ago I saw someone else do it and thought it was a good idea. I think they need a little more flash now that I think about it. I'm thinkin maybe make them blink and shoot fireworks out of them ........ and make them real BIG. any ideas ?
