I've wondered why do people list all their vacations in their signatures?

I understand countdowns, we're excited and looking forward to and planning our vacation. But why list vacations that you took so long ago and not even to Disney.

if i had to guess it would be:

to brag

to appear to be a disney veteran or cruise fanatic so to speak

:confused3:confused3

I write trip reports, and people who read them and comment tend to find them helpful. Therefore I link to them, and have a list of what places I have stayed for the DLR visits, in case anyone is interested.

If anything, it's embarrassing to me as the list gets longer, but I do write the reports both to remember and to help others, so there they are.

Definitely not bragging on my part.

this is a Disney board and we like to share our love of Disney and our Disney vacations. I think that sometimes people forget that.

and if we like to brag a little about our Disney obsession...who cares;)
its all in good fun !!!!:goodvibes

I just did it because everyone else does and I didn't want to feel left out :rolleyes1

Sometimes it comes in handy, knowing when or how often people go. If I ask a question about a tour or dining and someone responds I like to check out where they've been and stayed and stuff too. I don't write people off because of it or anything, it just gives their response a little perspective and lets me know a little bit about the person.

I was so excited to finally join DVC, so I started putting my DVC vacations in my siggie as a way to remember them and also as a way to show others how great DVC is and how they can vacation more often if they decide to become a member.

I don't think it's bragging, just sharing my love of Disney!! :goodvibes

My list is pretty short for now, but I aspire to be a Disney snob one day. :rotfl2:

That would be my guess. :thumbsup2

I can see no other reason to list:
-stayed Concierge
-had a MK view
-stayed 17 nights
-booked 2 rooms....etc, etc. etc.

:sad2:

Thar be some green-eyed monsters a foot...

Seriously...doesn't affect you at all, so why do you care if people list their vacations in their sigs?

Because I was curious as to why people do this. Green eyed monster I'm not. I've had many trips and stayed deluxe and all that.

The question:

.

An opinion:

to brag

An agreement to an opinion to an answer for the original question:

Not sure where I've said it affects me one way or another. It doesn't. Or that I care. I don't.

Simply stating MY opinion as to why people may have that stuff listed in a signature.

I couldn't agree more. Where else can I show off my love of Disney? I love my signature, all the great trips of the past and the ones yet to come. I don't see any difference in the past trips and having a weight loss counter, baby due date or any other event that makes you happy.:cloud9:

I listed all my Disney trips (I've never seen anyone list all their non-Disney trips?) specifically so that people would realize that not everyone on here goes to Disney every year.

I think showing trips makes sense since that's what this board is often discussing. You're giving your Disney history. It makes even more sense on the trip planning forums, but the signature is set up so it shows up on the community board as well.

Hmm, I think I have two of my trips in my signature - the most recent ones.

I can't remember the dates of the other trips. My first one was in 1973 if I remember correctly, then there were a couple in the 80's and a couple in the 90's too but I didn't bother to list them because I don't remember exactly when they were and we stayed off-site anyway.

It doesn't bother me if someone has a long list of their trip dates. It's what they wanted to do, so who am I to judge?

It does make me a teensy tiny bit jealous of those who get to go yearly, or more, not envious or anything like that, just wishing I could do it too! :)

Oops, I thought I had a signature, guess not. Hmmmm.....

I'm not bragging but it's a way I keep up with my dates/trips....and I hope it just continues to grow!

Have you ever been on any other specialized boards before???

Check them out for example a board devoted to camping. You will find lists of trips and lists of campers owned.

Check out a board devoted to cars. You will find the cars and the years owned in signatures.

To be honest I just think that it is something assosciated to special interest boards. This is a disney board therefore the siggy. Now if I put Honda 04 in my signature or 09 Speed boat I could see people saying what is that all about.

For me it is fun because I have a goal of trying out each resort and restaurant too but that list could get a little long! LOL So resorts it is. I really don't think it is to brag. It really is all in good fun. Plus like the other PP said I saw others do it and thought how fun!

Hi Molly. I just clicked on your trip report link to take a look and saw that your son's name is Eamon. Just wanted to tell you that that is one of my absolute favorite boy names. :thumbsup2

True..I think it is also to have your Dis friends know where you are & up to.
Real life friendships are formed on these boards.
Just another Disney plus:thumbsup2

I agree that it's not out of place here on the Dis. Listing where and when (Poly, June, 2006, for example) I'm sure would suffice. I'm mainly talking about why anybody needs to post about things like their MK view, being concierge/ club level, etc. IMHO..that's usually somebody trying to 'show off' their ability to afford that kind of trip. Nobody needs to know that.

But...to each his own. :hippie:
