We have reservations for a 2bd at the VWL for the first week of Feb using some borrowed points from our next use year. My mother is ill and I know if we have to cancel up to a day in advance, the points go into a holding account. Does this also hold true for the borrowed points? Should I buy the travel insurance to protect my points?

yes the borrowed points go into holding.

I don't think the travel insurance will help you.

Some one say that all they got was their annual fee back from the insurance on the points they couldn't use.

call ms tomorrow and see if they can find some way to help you.
