Hello Everyone,

We are going to be traveling to Florida in December and I was just curious if anyone had any experience or advice to give on the rental vacation homes available?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Darren

If you search the board, you'll find many reports, virtually all positive. We've rented homes 4 or 5 times and have had great experiences each time. I highly recommend it. For about the price of a moderate hotel room, you can get a 3-5 bedroom house with a full equipped kitchen, multiple tv's, screened in pool, washer and dryer, garage, etc. You can't beat the value and the generous amount of space. I have found no better accomodations anywhere in the Disney area. Go for it and enjoy.

Hi, Darren, and welcome to the DIS!

I agree with disneysteve. Search is down when the boards are busy, I usually check them early in the morning or late at night. I know that's how I got my information when I was considering renting one several years ago. There's really nothing like them! The space, the convenience, it can spoil you!

The vacation homes are great. My husband and I even booked one for our honeymoon last December. We'll be back renting with the same company at the end of this month. The privacy is fantastic and we love the attached inground swimming pool (a luxury we do not have at home!). There's plenty of room to roam so you're not on top of your traveling companions.

To conserve some money, we usually buy ingredients to keep at the house for a couple of lunches or dinners and most of our breakfasts (cereal, bagels, etc.) at a supermarket nearby. It keeps us from getting overdosed on park food!

The companies usually charge by the size of the house, not by the number of people staying in it, so it's an especially good deal if you're traveling with others.

Good luck!

We stayed in a vacation home in May and it was wonderful. I was unsure at first but when we arrived it was wonderful. I couldnt ask for anything more. I also belong to dvc and love my onsite stays but we will be staying in a home a lot more. My grandmother decided to purchase one. LOL It was that nice. We booked through closesttodisney.com and I would use them again.

I always look at the vacation homes but I'm one of those that prefers the hotels for the hotel amenities, etc... but the prices of a vacation home are SO MUCH BETTER. A friend of mine, Kellyn, rented a home that she find out about on another web site- the same home owners have some specials now at this LINK - Kellyn said the house was great - clean and spacious with a full kitchen and a private pool. I think she paid less than about $100.00 a night - for a place that slept 8! Can't find that onsite at the parks.
