Isn't the inside the part with the open grate? The funny part is that walking/driving across would scare the stuff out of me...but walking along the wires to the top...now that looks fun. Don't try to understand my logic. DW has gotten many a gray hair trying to figue me out.

I want to pass along some advice, or maybe a word of warning. I took one of my nieces and my nephew up to Mackinaw last week, and boy did the price of food come as a shock! I think they are trying to keep up with Disney! 3 burgers (2 with fries which were an up-charge from kettle chips) and 3 pops came to $60 at a not so fancy "saloon". Lunch on the island, another $60.

And here is something funny that happened that you over the age 40 or so will understand: We went to get gas, with my nephew driving. The gas tank is on my side of the car. Gas guy knocks on my window and asks what type of gas we want. Another guy starts to clean off the windshield. Both dear nephew and dear niece looked totally confused and bewildered! Apparently they still have a full service gas station up in Mackinaw. Neither of them had ever used one before, and the whole "what the heck is going on here" vibe made me laugh! I had to explain that that is how we got gas, back in the day.

My kids love that gas station! They want to go there every time. It is such a novelty to them. Another funny thing is we went to an antique shop last weekend, and there was a rotary phone for sale. My 12 year old couldn't figure out how you would dial it.

We do love Mackinaw. Mill creek campground is really nice for anyone interested in camping.
