bethyg,
I liked Allstar. If you look, most of the sites own homes in the same vacation home areas. I'm sure other companies are just fine. We had my brother's family, my family, and my parents (total of 9 people); it would have required 3 hotel rooms, so for us, the vacation home was a bargain.
Because we had a 3 year old and a 20 month old in the party, having the space to let them play was good. My dd, for example, isn't too into hotel rooms.
I also didn't find the transportation to take too long. The drive wasn't that bad at all. At times, it was only 15 minutes (we stayed in Windsor Palms). From MK, it took the longest but that was also because of the TTC.
That said, I'm hoping to stay onsite the next time I go, but that will be just my dh, dd, and me. For a larger group, I think it's hard to beat the vacation home.
The particular one we rented had some acoustics issues, and we could hear everyone in other rooms, but that was probably just the layout/design. Since it's just you and the kids, you could get into a vacation home for less than the cost of a deluxe hotel, which would be nice.
Good luck!
